Kinda off topic, but were you able to obtain photos that were on say, his hard drive or external hard drive?

To pull the files off the Blackberry just plug it into the computer and pull the files right from it. Don't use the desktop manager. If you go to my computer the device should be listed there as an external format, like an SD card.
