Because you are alive! In my opinion Atheists have more of a reason to live. You only get one life, they aren't living to get into a nice version of the second one.
Not sure where this derives from but some ppl believed that if you live your life through all the wrongness and shit that has ever happened to you, you deserve a place in heaven no matter what. (Not necessarily a heaven but you get the point.)
I honestly believe life is not worth living if you are an atheist, I am an atheist and all I do all day long is sit at my computer.
Maybe I go take a shit or a piss sometimes, or eat or smoke but aside from that it is computer.
I am unemployed and not getting anything out of life yet.
I believe that all my accomplishments and achievements are unjustified because I will have nothing to show for them after I am dead.
Life is stressing and depressing, you work your ass off, you have a family and work your ass off even harder.
Then you die.
The end.
Not very fair or worth the effort is it now?
How old are you, exactly? Unless you're fifty, I'm going to call you an angsty teenager.
[editline]13th October 2010[/editline]
Why don't you sit and think of how grateful you should be for being born with the ability to see?
Yeah, live can be hard at times, but hey look at the bright sides!
Atheist are just like regular people. Just because they don't believe in god or Jesus doesn't mean they don't want to live there life.
There are alot of people that don't believe and they have perfect lives.
Being an athiest allows complete freedom... Depending on who your family members are e.g Saddam.
That is what makes life worth living + being a Western Citisen
Why would a belief in a being change our perception of what we should do with our lives?
Also:
Because believe it or not we're not insignificant. At least our universe has something to show off at the universe convention.
you silly people
Life is worth living.. because experiencing reality feels good.
Multiverse theory+cyclical universe theory.
If either of them exist, we can exist indefinitely if we play our cards properly.
I think we would still have some issues with the multiverse theory but the cyclical universe theory might work assuming the universe doesn't end in something terrible that leaves us as living man-powder.
Better than living a life where touching yourself you then have to say 10 hail marys :smug:
I get that. I'm still alive because life is relatively short so I may as well finish my turn.

I am not fifty at all, I am 16. Fine call me an "angsty" teenager.
But why should I be grateful when at any point in my life everything could simply end, gone forever without meaning.
I could one day crash on my motorbike and die, then that would be it, no reason for it. I would not be missed by a large amount of people, nor would my death have any repercussions on the world.
You would never think much of my death when it happens and you probably do not know what I have done in my life.
So what the hell is the point, I mean seriously now. Why? I am supposed to be doing my best to give the government money who hope I have children to give them more money and will spend it on a nice big house offshore. They also want me to die so they can get tax from my funeral service and coffin.
But for me, when I die that is it.
This subject annoys me and depresses me.
Just shut up and go back to your porn :]
I've come to the conclusion that life is just as valuable as not living because you will eventually die and the impact you've left along with the world will die too, the universe will eventually die, and there's no chance of a legacy ultimately surviving, so why does anything matter? I completely abondoned all religion at the age of thirteen. Nothing you do in life matters, because the people who you have affected will die too. Nothing you do in life matters. So, pretty much, it's this or complete nothingness. No thoughts, no heaven, no love.
Stop being emo op the reason I eat is because it tastes good, the reason I make friends is because they can make me laugh, the reason I read books is because I like learning and I can't do any of that when I am dead.
Not being emo, idiot.
Not being emo, idiot.
Now your being moody and angry, but seriously why would you need to ask a question like this? Its obvious that even if you don't go to heaven life is still worth something or else every catholic would kill themselves
Also, Immortality is a curse.

According to an Athiestic mantra I heard once:
The single point of life is to survive long enough to reproduce.
Actually, that might've been Calvin and Hobbes. Whatever.

Why is life worth living for a christian?
Life after death is supposed to be better, according to you.
Mostly because that means he has 70 years of grueling "pain" to go through otherwise, since suicide means going to Hell in Christianity.
Then do very dangerous things, which is not suicide

But if your intent is to go to heaven faster, God knows, apparently. But you can't be sure; kill yourself and report back to us, if you can get wifi wherever it is you go.
Athiest dont believe in an afterlife so they problably feel like they should make the best out of the short time that they have. Even if they dont leave an impacton life, they can still try and enjoy it

The concept of an afterlife is spiritual. Atheists can have spiritual beliefs.

You're sixteen and you have the rest of your life ahead of you. A truly happy person wouldn't care about how large of an impact they leave on society, they'll just care that their impact reaches those they care about.
If you were to suddenly die one day, out of nowhere, for no apparent reason, think about how many people would actually cry at your death. If not cry, at least feel very sad about it.
Quit being so pessimistic and put your chin up for a few days.
I for one live it for the delicious food.

Reproduction kind of is the main point in existence.
Tapeworms are truly the pinnacle of evolution.
I was born so I felt obligated.
So what? Eat, love (both the sexual and emotional kinds), and play video games. Enjoy life and hope that your role in the great story of space and time left an impact or influenced an impact.
If nothing matters that doesn't mean you can't have personal values/goals, just for the kicks; also if this is my only life I'm not going to waste it on suicide
This ^.
Hell, just ignore your insignificant role in the universe and view your life as a microcosm. You only need to make an impact on your friends and family.
