No automerge? That's wierd.
I'd let my kids play Half-Life.
My childhood game was Metroid Prime. Day I get kids, they'll play it too.
This thread has been more entertaining than Half-Life 3 will ever be.
I'll hop on the nostalgia train, as well...

eventually there is going to be some kid out there that is going through the play through of the Half Life games and he'll finish EP2 just before HL3 comes out. To him, there was no wait and suffering. I feel like half this ordeal is the journey just getting this game.

What if waiting for this game that never comes out... is the game? Yet we're the ones getting played?
Humans have been violent since the dawn of time but it's all video games fault that anyone kills anyone ever for any reason.
They let... a child play a R-18 game?
edit: Excuse me for expressing a bit of concern when a young child plays such a game. My parents weren't as chill like this father. I mean scenes like where the advisor kills Eli or gathers information from the dead rebel is maybe a bit much for a kid of 6-7.
Dude, I was maybe 10 when i first saw Robocop.....let that sink in for a moment.
It depends on the child, if he is mature enough to differentiate reality from fiction there is no problem.
Interesting tidbit from my dissertation research: Almost everyone's "all time favorite game" came out when they were between 12 and 14.
Pfff, I was 11 when Monster Hunter 1 came out.
