Almost all good electronic music doesn't include lyrics
I think people who dislike electronic music in generality are just biased because either it doesn't have vocals or because it's not performed by "real" instruments. Or because all they've heard is poppy trance music. Electronic music has so many variations that it seems almost impossible to hate all of it without being biased over some kind of malformed principles of what they think constitutes "music".
they're biased in that they don't like it. that's it. it's not anything to really do with what the music has or doesn't have in specific, they just don't like it.
Many (not all) techno songs are just kinda...flat musically. A bunch of beats that don't really differentiate themselves from other techno song. Lack of any deep value or meaning. Just headache music really.
BUT, as shown by some of the posts here , there are good techno artists like VNV Nation (and The Crystal Method if they count?), with actual depth and unique beats and out-there lyrics. Just like every other genre of music today, you have to get past the shit to find the good stuff.
I won't even bother with this post. It's just not right. VNV Nation is shallow, pop music. There's a lot of deeper electronic music, and it's the farthest thing from flat.
I think fans of VNVN are equivalent to fans of Tool, in the techno world.
Almost all good electronic music doesn't include lyrics
Mostly because lyrics can make a song terrible at times.
I mean look at what they did at making, "crazy."
They took an older song that was repetitive...and well, made it worse.
Same beat, same everything with lyrics.
Lyrics don't make a song any better, if the song can't handle on its own then its not really good.
I'll restate the fact that electronic music CAN be performed and improvised on the fly in a live setting. Is it always? No. But that still doesn't mean it has no "soul". "How you perform it, how you sing it, and how you play it" sounds like you're just referring to visual flash and the act of actually doing something to make the sound.
And that's beside the fact that literally everything can be done in electronic music that can be done with acoustic music (so to speak) when it comes down to actually making the music, and a lot of times electronic composers WILL incorporate live instruments into their recordings. But besides, when you listen to a rock band (not watching them live or a music video, just listening to it) you don't SEE the way the band plays, sings, or performs it, so that point is completely null. If you listen to music FOR the music then it IS all about the song itself.
I don't think techno has the same variations as other acoustic genres have.
Lets say i listen to some regular rock, blues, punk, metal, jazz or anything at all.
"The singer has a really nice voice, and i like the way he/she sings it. The guitar solo is really good, he/she knows how to play that guitar. That saxophone player is great, he takes the tones in a really nice way."
Something like that is what i would say about a good song or band. I just don't feel like techno has the variations, that makes a song/band/artist unique.
Basically it just comes down to a matter of opinion.
Basically it just comes down to a matter of opinion.
Ofcourse, and that's basically what we are disgusting.
i hate it because instead of a guitar going banow it's a boop going bleep

disgusting, whats so disgusting?

I'm sorry, i wrote discusting, but the webbrowser said the word was spelled wrong. Would discusting be the correct word? Anyway, my bad.

Thank you.
lol at all the mad electronic nerds not accepting people who dont like electronic music
If you don't like it that's fine, but if your reason for not liking it is dumb then that's just dumb.

Techno does have variation, you're just too closed-minded to see it.
I mean no offense. But it's true. People who swear that rap is shit because it's all about guns and drugs, are closed-minded to that genre. It's the same thing with techno and all of its forms.

Techno is just a form of electronic music. In order for somebody to dislike all electronic music, they would have to dislike almost all ambient music, downtempo, IDM, industrial, etc.
I seriously doubt that you do.
Honestly that song sounds more repetitive than most trance music I listen to and enjoy. I still liked it though, it wasn't "Daft punk 3rd generation" repetitive in-a-bad-way IMO.
What. No. Chris Clark is much more complex than any four-on-the-floor trance you listen to.
music is stupid anyway.

It does, there's tons of artists out there that make EDM music that have VERY distinct styles. And about a dozen more bad "garage techno" artists that try to copy the style and suck at it, but you get the point.
Such as songs by Above & Beyond sound significantly different than the "Balearic" (ew terms) music someone like DJ Shah would make. Both a widely popular Trance artists. I could point out an Oceanlab song from a mile away for example, they have a really distinct vocalist they use. Songs by Postal Service/Daft Punk are probibly the most well known examples. Both are technically electronic music, but they sound completely different and have their own style.
A lot of -generic- club music sounds similar, but generic club music isn't designed to be listened to... it's made to be danced to. It's also generic, and therefore cheap to use in clubs (well... maybe not, I'm no DJ that's just what I've always assumed). And when you are dancing, all you really care about are the base meoldies and beats.

I wasn't saying it was bad or "not complex" I just said that it sounds more repetitive.

Listen to different artists, they're all different. If you've ever heard of Skinny Puppy, listen to a brap session. Those are unique, and improvised songs.
Automatic Tasty is basically the best thing Augmatic Disport has sent me.
I need to know where to get more, KoT/Caps/AugDis, when you see this. It's awesome.

Thanks, dude. It says the one from "Sine Language" has no files to unzip when I get it though, which is really odd. All the others work though.
There's also some Chevron on there, very nice.
I love techno
I think that post-techno would be totally awesome if it existed.

Use your imagination. A lot of electronic music (the good kind that you listen to with headphones, not at raves) forces you to take the abstract beats and rhythm and convert them into emotions or some sort of message.
Or just sit there and enjoy the song, and don't hate it because it doesn't have some guy singing about his girlfriend
That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard.
I'm not talking about girlfreind songs. I can understand why you might have though that, though, after all I didn't say anything about "girlfriend songs" in my post, so I can see why that's the only thing you thought of. I'm talking about songs about morality, politics, society, etc; things that are inspiring is some form or another. If I wanted to use my imagination, I'd read a fucking book. Get some musical taste, child.
If we're going to be so damn uncompromising here, I'll just point out that techno is largely a musical form for basement dwellers to patch up a bunch of lukewarm musical tones without having to take the time to learn an instrument, become a powerful lyric writer or practice their vocals. It's nothing short of ambient noise.
Awesome techno is really hard to find, but when you find it it's incredible.
I dislike the metalheads who say it is "too fast" then listen to music that's even faster.
When do we say it's too fast? You've must've been talking to the so called "metalheads" who listen to Slipknot or some shitty band. Techno's fun to mess with and blast it over speakers when I'm bored in walmart or best buy.

Electronic music without vocals is just ambient noise?
That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

Find me the part in my post that has those words in that order.
It's nothing short of ambient noise.
not in that order but it's pretty much the same meaning.
