The majority decides what's right and what's right.
When it comes to large moral decisions, not when it comes to music taste. The majority in Russia thought what was going on was good for the longest time, similar things have happened all over the world where the majority have constantly been duped. Sorry if I don't give a rats ass what the majority happen to think about music. The majority of people also think metal is the devil. Is this so? No. Fuck off with the "Majority Rules" and morality arguments. They don't work.

That was my point.

Are you trying reverse psychology or something? It's not working on the internet.

I was stating an observation when I said the majority decides what's right. Don't get your dick up in a bunch.
I believe it is for the same reason people dislike metal : It penetretates the mind, showing no respect.
When I started getting into electronic music, I had this discussion going on and on, until I found out people won't change their mind. It's an endless discussion. No one is right because it's their own taste.
To someone like me techno sounds like loops played over and over again. Its like you have this rhythm here with nothing playing over it.

I dunno what you have been listening to
maybe progressive house
In general it sounds too synthetic for my taste. But I don't "hate" it. I just don't listen to it since I like the alternatives more.
I'm fine with techno, I have a whole collection of 'em. I don't really care what genre a song is, if I like it I like it.
"techno" is such an undefined term. by tehno do you mean anything created with the assistance of a computer? by that standard almost everything is techno due to pitch correction software.
I also don't like the word techno because it denotes only a certain type of electronic music, a type I really don't like, yet people still use it as a blanket term for anything electronic.

As far as I've heard its just the typical techno that everyone with half a brain listens too. I live in a society surrounded by idiots :D

Don't understand what you mean by "typical techno" unless you are talking about commercial dance

I don't exactly know the words to describe it, but yeah I guess commercial dance would be a good description.
Commercial Dance/Typical Techno are two genres I really dislike
I love more technical/experimental electronic music though
Justice < Autechre

The devil created metal and techno. You still have time to repent.
It's because they don't have robot ears

are you joking
are you joking
are you kidding
I'm surprised at the lack of metal fans ignorantly insulting every other genre but metal in this thread.
i'm surprised by the abundance of stereotyping in this thread
Because it's music with keyboardists being the heros, that's totally wrong.
then you haven't seen this movie
Oh, I get it. It's funny because you're making an obscure movie reference that may or may not have any relevance to this thread.
For the record, a lot of people call minimal, tech house and prog genres techno. BUT in America, not a lot of people know about EDM, so we use the blanket term techno!! Get over it!!
Now, a lot of people are still in the "world wide famous band" mode. I've heard a lot of people say it's not music if people aren't working together to make it live. Really it's just a culture thing. Europe isn't that way, but there are also decent clubs in Europe so, yeah. I think America just needs time to catch up culturally and get over the boy band obsession.

this.
I went to britain this summer, and I was very surprised to find that electronic(or whatever blanket term you prefer) was actually played on the radio, in restaurants, etc. among other things.
but here in america it's all rap, pop, and rock. and occasionally classical.
:(
