Is it because it doesn't sound "real"? Is the lack of vocals too boring? Is a 4/4 kick too much for some people to handle? Are whiny leads/pitched up vocals too obnoxious? yes yes yes yes
no i definitely heard this on the radio yesterday
yes yes yes yes
Do you even know what techno is? Are you a tool? No. Yes.
more like yes yes [editline]02:49PM[/editline]
Do you even know what techno is? Are you a tool? No. Yes.
he asked why people hate techno, and that's why. not saying I do. get over it
I normally respect others opinions on music, and I respect what techno is made for. But then there is that one person who pulls up in a beat up car, all windows wound down, blasting techno louder than a fucking fleet of space shuttles taking off.
Becouse it's not real music, the way you make techno should not be the way you make music in my opinion. Also, it's overall boring. My opinion.
Shit techno is generally repetitive and boring.
Fixed that for you Or: techno that wasn't designed to be listened to, but just to dance to. For instance I love listening to all sorts of trance music but I hate listening to "smooth" underground trance music because it's pretty much just smooth beat with very minimal melodies... good for light clubbing but I don't find it as "good music" in my eyes.
Becouse it's not real music, the way you make techno should not be the way you make music in my opinion. Also, it's overall boring. My opinion.
just like how according to my friends mapping isn't "real" art.

For me, it's always "that one person who pulls up in a beat up car, all windows down, blasting rap music louder etc" As a matter of fact I think I'm the only one in my entire area that even listens to EDM as their main genre of music. That said I like all music (GENRALLY) as long as the music itself sounds like music (most songs where the music takes a backseat in favor of lyrics I generally do not like, because I don't consider it music at all), and for me a lot of good EDM music is like that.

Leave techno alone!
BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM Also the annoying squeaky voices used in them.

because most techno people are explsed to is shitty trance dancepop that is the same four notes repeated with poor vocals when i say techno post people think of poor dance remixes, not real techno like LCD soundsystem, daft punk, justice, etc.
Because it's a really "cheap" form of music, much like hip hop. It doesn't matter what song you're playing, they're all using the same beat. From a distance it all sounds like a neverending series of "THUMP"s.
From a distance lots of songs sounds the same, the bass is going at a common beat and bass travels the farthest :downs:

If you don't like techno with annoying voices, then listen to techno without annoying voices. If you don't like techno that sounds mechanical, listen to some that doesn't sound like it was made by machines. If you don't like techno with repetitive beats, find some techno that changes constantly throughout the song If you don't like techno with a 4/4 kick, find some bands that don't use it (or use a different time signature)
like this

i am so disappoint
Asking "Why do people hate techno?" is like asking "Why do people hate ANY FUCKING GENRE OF MUSIC THERE IS?" It just shouldn't be asked, so don't ask it. It is just their opinion.
is that the sigur ros guy? -.-
yeah
A lot of Techno has the exact same sound, but when you find some that is unique, it's good.
I guess you like or you don't like.
The reason I do not like techno, is that there is no emotion or meaning in the creation of the song, or the song itself. The process by which you would make a song with a guitar, is completely different than making a song on a machine, there isn't any emotion or feeling put into creating techno songs at any deep level. The song On The Run, even though it was made entirely on a synth, is still completely different as far as meaning-wise from any techno song, there's a level of emotion put into it not found in techno. If this doesn't make sense to you, then I'm not going to try explaining it, because it isn't something you can understand without experiencing it firsthand. Going to try and make this a bit more specific; I don't have a problem with techno as far as just listening to it, and I actually like listening to it while playing games, but at a musical level, it just doesn't have the meaning or emotion that I consider musically great bands to have. I like bands like Primus and Van Halen, but they are by no means musically great bands. I'm not saying that the music itself doesn't have meaning because of how it is produced, but the songs aren't deeply rooted into meanings and emotions like truly great bands like Pink Floyd are. When I listen to Shine on you Crazy Diamond, there is a very strong emotional force which can be felt, and can understand exactly what they were trying to put out. I have not heard any techno song which has music at that strong of an emotional level.

I have seen much deeper emotion in some electronic music than any other.
