Of course stuff like Synthpop/futurepop is pretty much entirely based around lyrical songs by male singers with deep voices. VNV Nation comes to mind, it's a completely different style from the trance song I put above:

VNV nation is also awesome :3:
"Stand your ground this is what we are fighting for... for spirit and morals and ways! Cry havoc and let slip of the dogs of war, for heaven or hell we shall not wait! Shall I think of Honor as lies, or lament it's slow demise? Shall I stand as a total stranger, on this day in this stone chamber?"
VNV nation
'cept youtube kinda took a shit all over the quality :(
I know a couple of people who think electronic music is gay/dumb/etc. I don't get that. I mean, I prefer other kinds of music but some electronic music's pretty good. Definitely good to throw in every once in a while.

so they attach a sexual oreintation to a type of music? something's wrong with that.
actually, I can sorta see some of my friends doing that....
:sigh:
I could like techno, if it wasn't for the fact that it's not made with real instruments.
I could maybe love it if i knew that somewhere a guy raped his guitar signal to the point where it sounded like techno, and if the drums weren't made by a computer...
No actually i don't think i could love it.
as for the people saying it's not made with real instruments
it IS, a synthesizer is a real instrument
everybody is talking about techno here but most of them know nothing about techno and nobody has posted an actual techno track either
Depends on my mood you could say, sometimes Techno is just awesome, other times I'm like "meh" towards it.

Yeah. If a synthesizer doesn't qualify as being a real instrument then the electric guitar shouldn't either.

In the case of this thread we're just using "techno" as a blanket term for electronic music.

that's just terrible
yeah I think it's kinda dumb too. It's like saying all rock is alternative.

The Flashbulb plays guitar, among other things. I know he affects it in a lot of his studio tracks too (the Lawn Wake tracks).

Squarepusher plays bass.

There is no such thing as a "real" instrument. Even my sphincter can be an instrument.

this thread became a thousand times more interesting.
It's not that everybody hates it, but the people who do hate things that are so... Repetitive.
There is no such thing as a "real" instrument. Even my sphincter can be an instrument.
I wouldn't wanna see you perform live.
Techno isn't inherently repetitive, bro.
what
Who are you talking to?
That was directed at Wolf, not you.
Anyone listen to Tipper?

Sick shit.
I don't see how anyone could hate this.

Yeah, polish ambassador!
Is there any techno song with good and creative lyrics?
DANCE, DVNO (by justice), and Run On (by moby) just to name some.

You do know that lots of techno is made with a guitar, right?
Go listen to "Human After All." Lots of that is "real" guitar with lots of edited guitar layered on top. In fact the entire album was made with a guitar.
Not to mention how does the lack of a physical instrument change anything? music is music.
I don't even want to bother quoting it, but someone here said EDM doesn't have the emotion that songs from bands like Pink Floyd has. All I have to ask is, how the hell do you figure that? What makes a guitar so much more emotional than a synth? How can you say one type of artist isn't as emotional as another when it always depends on the artist you are listening to anyway? Sorry, but most main stream rock doesn't have any more emotion than techno songs made in FL by a 13 year old.
Listen to Above & Beyond. If you can't hear the emotion in those vocals, I don't know what's wrong with you.

in before "that's not techno"
I love house music. Is that considered techno? But either way, I love techno as well.
House music means club music. It's a certain type of club music, but yes, it is considered techno, especially older form of house when the house scene was less soul/jazzy style.
I don't hate all techno, but some of it I dislike. Techno is one of those things that sounds good mixed with other genres.
I personally love it, it's the only genre I compose in.

13 year-olds in Florida are allowed to have emotions and express them through music.
