what ever happened to using dragons in combat
It seems like guns have taken away all the honor and nobility of war. Where once it was heroic knights valiantly engaged in hand-to-hand fighting for their King or Queen, now it's just illiterate peasantry shooting each other from hundreds of metres away. No more strong castles and legendary sieges. No more Lords of the Realm on great horses charging headlong into the enemy. No more legendary swords made by master craftsmen. Sigh.

It seems like swords have taken away all the honor and nobility of war. Where once it was heroic snipers valiantly engaged in long-range ballistics fighting for their Country or People, now it's just illiterate peasantry slashing each other from a few metres away. No more fortified outposts and legendary spec-ops missions. No more Military Generals on great Humvees charging headlong into the enemy. No more legendary guns made by master blacksmiths. Sigh.
War has lost all its Romance.

There was never any honor or nobility in war.
European wars were romanticized in literature, but guess what, they were just bloody and brutal battles fought by "illiterate peasantry".
By the way, the sword qualities back then were by no means legendary.

:golfclap:
We learned that ranged things were superior, and eventually arrows evolved into objects propelled by black powder. Things got more efficent, and now we have guns.
haha yeah you're a fucking retard

Modern David and Goliath.
I'd rather die from a 7.62x39mm Russian to the chest rather than bleeding out from a steel arrow in my chest.

I hope you realize Age of Empires and Medival action movies are not historically accurate.
You realize that knights were a bunch of pillaging dickspurts who'd loot and rape their way to victory while riding on a bed of conscripted peasants like you?
Whats worse. Getting shot in the leg and have a medic heal you or get your head cut off and die very painfully.
I agree that skill of a warrior has really been downgraded, now anyone with 20 20 vision and steady hands can land lucky shots to a seasoned veteran who is really more of an up to now lucky veteran. Back in the times of melee fighting if someone wanted you dead they would need to get pretty close (atleast bow range) and you had a chance to stop it, now the 5 mile range snipers can pick off anyone.
And legendary swords? Dude, Excalibur was a myth.

See hes got a sword!
Personally, I would rather be shot then hacked to death by a sweaty guy with an axe.
How much fightan anime have you been watching lately, OP?

That guy was pretty badass
He got a bunch of germans to surrender or something and also killed a bunch of germans
with his bow
Uhh.
In the middle ages, wars were fought by bands of mercenaries hired by a lord or powerful person to destroy the armies of their oponents. These armies would rape and pillage and raze villages. Knights were a rare breed, few and far between. Most of the soldiers were simply lackeys or peasents forced to go into combat wearing a leather cap and with a wooden club.
I think Modern Warfare has it's own kind of beauty and romance.

I can't remember which war (If it's actually considered a war) it was, but all together almost $200,000,000 was spent just on equipment for about 6 months because the person who started the war wouldn't have anyone less that perfect in his fights. So he spend a load of cash on armor and shit just to make it look good and ended up losing to a load of armor-less fucks with knives.
Moral: Don't go fight like a retard when you just suck.
It's easier to shoot someone then stab them. All that hacking makes your arms tired.
You think the crusaders were noble fighters? They were a bunch of overzealous and bored pheasants with nothing better to do than assault some foreign land to appease some egotistical jackass of a pope, raping and pillaging villages and towns on their way to take over the "holy land".
I agree. I feel I missed out on all the romantic sword thrusts through the heart, the jugular, the femoral artery, etc, etc. I'll never here the sweet CRUNCH of skull matter against my maise! I really desired a chance at taking a long sword and lopping off three heads at the same time, but alas, romance has passed me by and bitter sorrow has filled my heart. Now all my hopes and dreams have vanished completely like tears, lost in the rain. sniff, sniff.
War... war never changes...
EDIT: Fallout 3 reference

War has never had any romance.
No matter with guns or swords it's all just something to do with death.
