I didn't make any comments about her attractiveness.
I didn't make any comments about her attractiveness.
Not you specifically. Some other Members seem to think she does not look attractive, or she looks "bleh". I think she looks lovely in the beach photos. Although, she does look a little bummed out in the others.
You guys need to understand these arent models. They are all just pictures of my friends... 90% of the time when i shoot I grab one of my run of the mill friends 30 minutes before we shoot and we grab an outfit think of a location and go have fun. I just turned 19 in april... have just gotten into photography and started taking it seriously. I am at the point where I am trying out new things and building a portfolio. I could care less if my 18 year old friend i eat easy mac, play halo with all day, and grew up with since kindergarten in my tiny boring town can't pose or put fourth splendid expression or emotion. They are excited to hangout they are nervous because people are always watching us. Yea sometimes I get people to shoot with off model mayhem and that's a treat but keep in mind I live in bumfuck nowhere florida so the modeling talent within an hour of my house is close to nil. That leaves me back to where I started hanging out with friends doing impromptu practice shoots and having the time of my life doing it. That's really all I can say.
could care less means that you do care.
I like the first one. She looks like she's posing naturally in it, and I like the mix of colours. However, I agree with the others on the rest. Your model just looks uncomfortable. Also the unsharp-masking or whatever you do around people on all your beach shots gets irritating after a while. They don't need to have a glowing outline darnit. I wanted to do some work with models as I spend most of my time taking photos of architecture and doing weird experiments. I have to drag my friends out for a shoot sometime.

When Brian shares his photos with us, he obviously want to know what we think about them, and he want our critique, and that means he'll have to accept the comments we give. And if he want comments and critique on photos of people, where the person being photographed is the most important object, then we will comment on the person being photographed. And if the person in the photo looks retarded, or bored out, or just looks completely disgusting I can assure you someone will point that out. I did.
Wow that's a very touching speech, Brian. A real tear-jerker. Unfortunately it doesn't excuse you from the fact that you obviously take these pictures seriously and as a form of art, which means the model could be your quadriplegic second cousin for all we care. If it doesn't look good, then it really doesn't matter who the model is, or how much you don't care what we think. So stop running around in circles like a headless chicken with these trivial arguments and accept some damn critique for once in your life.
i like these 2 posters above me, they speak of sense.
I agree with the whole model sucks/pictures decent thing. Composition is a bit boring.
/Bandwagon of hate. Anyways, ..personally well taken, nice exposure, the model's a bit dull but as you said she's just a friend so can't expect high standard. I would use more direction on your part to improve the image. Be nice to see you experiment a bit more on thing's that your not so comfortable taking.
Yo Matix and BrianEtc, calm down, argue over PM or something.
I haven't said anything that didn't need to be said.

Or was it before that?

they probably want some mice pace profile photos to show off, and were like Brian, you can take good photo's right?
You should stop over-editing your photos in Photoshop, sadly sometimes it ruins them a bit because they seem to be good photos originaly. Just curious, but could I please see an un-edited photoof these? The last one preferably.
What's with people thinking they can speak for everyone else? You can't really say 'hey don't listen to these people they don't mean it', that doesn't make sense. Oh well. I agree with others that you are over-editing the photos. If you're using lightroom, there's a ton of different ways to change up the photo to stop it getting halos - the fake HDR look is pretty gross. I also agree with matix that if a photo isn't great, don't upload it and complain about it. You post a hell of a lot of threads, and you always seem ready to churn out excuses when someone doesn't like your photos. That being said, I like the first photo. It's not over-edited and reminds me of something from a music poster/CD.
Nice. Like the first one the best.
Nice job stealing pictures, and yes he took them from someone else because he's 19, some of the pictures on the profile say "These suck I was drunk" Notice drunk? I don't recall it being legal to drink at 19, and I highly doubt those are even yours.

Have a look at all of BrianEtc's other threads, because you'll find the same level of photography in all of them.
To SasukeXUchihaX, wow. To Socklicker, the guy who says I hate Brian, that's just not true. Coming to the realization that he's just an average photographer with expensive equipment who gets way more e-cred than he deserves =/= hatred. It just pisses me off that I give a good amount of criticism to EVERYBODY that posts photography threads in this forum, but only when I give the almighty BRIANETC critique, everybody pops a Brian boner and cock-slaps me in the face with it.
the pictures are nice but honestly would've been better without her in them. or with someone a tad easier on the eyes
To SasukeXUchihaX, wow. everybody pops a Brian boner and cock-slaps me in the face with it.
I like this, it made me smile :)

And/or underage drinking. [editline]06:53PM[/editline] Also, Matix makes some good points. After reading through the thread I would have to agree.
I'm a man of few words and I say : 2nd one is ok rest is meh

Like I said before, I know nothing about photography, so I just assume Brian's hella good at photography because everyone becomes vicious if you disagree.
