Some people don't like the thrash sound, and prefer the easier sound that the newer albums have. It doesn't make the albums bad, they're just a different style to the old stuff

Pretty sure they were still highly praised before the "meme," albeit by a smaller audience, but /mu/'s infatuation with them doesn't change the fact that they make some solid music. Overrated? Yes, but only because of /mu/'s constant circle jerking.
Magnetic Fields were massively rated and said to be the core of indie folk.
I love their music and they were much more established than Neutral Milk.
I have no clue as to why NMH are said to be the most important indie folk band.

Drake, people say Drake is bringing lyricism back into Hip-Hop but he's as bad if not worse than the rest of Young Money.
Jay-Z, he is a good rapper but he doesn't deserve being in top 5's or 10's.

When I don't like a band or musician, I don't listen to them. I see no point in dwelling more upon the negativity by talking about why you don't find said band or musician enjoyable. Not to mention, it's only going to add to piling disagreements.
