well.. it is each to his own. :-)
But a person who says he thinks he's great but hasn't heard Electric Ladyland has an invalid opinion.
yeah, they're overrating him.
pretty much

2 both of you
This kind of thread annoys me, it just feels to me like everyone trying be as provocative as they can with huge exaggerations everywhere. No music is objectively "overrated".
the beatles are overrated
who's trying to be provocative???

it's not really about hatred though imo.
you can still highly enjoy music and have a case to call it overrated if you want.

aside from the guy with the really weird boner for the strokes i don't think i've seen anyone do what you've claimed at all

Okay, maybe I'm just prone to having an emotional reaction over people completely devaluing some of my favourite musicians without a shred of remorse. but the whole "music is subjective etc" point still stands
how does someone's opinion devalue music rofl
i mean, from their perspective, jeez!
fuck, this is why i stopped visiting this section
i missed you doe ):

I get what you say bro. But just know it's only your experience that matters.
I enjoy Bon Iver's music regardless of Pitchfork's opinion or anyone else's. If it makes me hip, then all the more good. :)
dear god akayz
idgaf about what pfk says either but those guys fuckin suck ass

People actually listen to Pitchfork's opinions?
HA

I know that and acknowledge it, but I guess it mostly annoys me that others don't have the same attitude. Posts earlier in the thread like "i listened to is this it and it put me to sleep" and "What." in reply to the concept of indie folk being a genre just strike me as so hatefully egotistical. why not love everything? i don't understand you people

the only reason FutureSex/LoveSounds has an average rating over 3 is due to Pitchfork giving it an 8+ review.
Don't think it's just "fantastic", because it's not a whole lot better than the first record. It's pretty clear the effect of that side of the community tbh.

there's literally no need to take people's words to heart, if they don't make you feel good to read them, then don't let it affect you bro.
DragonForce
People are only giving them attention because they play faster at the speed of light.
I don't think anyone actually thinks Dragonforce are very good. Most of the attention they get are people making fun of them
AC/DC for sure.
I don't think they deserve to be where they are today, their success just isn't warranted from the amount of talent they have
If you actually watch any interview with them they never claimed to be good musicians, they just wanted to play rock n roll and have crowds enjoying it.
If you actually watch any interview with them they never claimed to be good musicians
well at least they are honest

if you call nicki minaj overrated you so do not get the point of slagging off artists for being overrated
well at least they are honest
AC/DC did one thing and did it well until it started to get boring and then they kept going
I find it weird how people can actually like her, her music is badly written, like really badly, when I hear her song I start to get headache, this opinion comes from me and I like bands starting from 70's, just not to sound like dick here, I also think her music is way too loud, either I get old or this volume wars that go on since the 80's is more and more ridiculous.
Neutral Milk Hotel, easily overrated, they're good at times but nowhere close to the hype man.
Dude, you're entitled to how you feel. But when you insult the listeners of the music, you just sound like a cock.
I enjoy the music, but I won't give you reasons because you won't comprehend them since you find new music "too loud" for your ears.
If you get a headache when you listen to music, then you have health problems.

You completely misunderstood me, I said new music is loud, let's give you example of Death Magnetic from Metallica, I'd like the album but it's really loud it cuts all the dynamics in the sound, that's what I mean by loudness in the sound which is prevailed in many genres and artists, but I blame record companies and mixing.
I get headache from listening to shit like Nicki Minaj, and tell me how am I not supposed to be mad about it if people around always force me to listen to this, on the bus, on the train, in my own house when neighbours play it really loud, how am I supposed to deal with this, should I just be mean and blast my guitar out loud or play my music out loud, I know that people might not like my music because they might say it's old, I don't force anybody.
I really don't like music albums which force the listener to listen to music at their own set volume, no matter how low I set it, it will still be loud as hell, old albums are usually mixed much quieter.
If you're forced to hear music you don't like, then that's only your own issue to deal with.
As for loudness wars, most of the time it doesn't ruin the music, I've only known a few cases where I've compared vinyl to digital and noticed directly how loudness has affected it. It's when older albums are remastered is where problems can be found.

You need to come to terms with the fact that you hate R&B music. End of.

In fact it's not only my issue to deal with but it's also an issue many people must deal with, also the problem with loudness is if you don't listen it loud you will not hear those dynamics it will simply be sounding low quality and muddy.

Most people are jumping on bandwagons.
I've actually done the research. And it doesn't affect the quality of the music.
"low quality" - don't download from youtube
"muddy sound" - maybe how it's meant to be on record?
You also give me Metallica as an example for something against loudness wars. You can't be serious :v:

Don't blame the record companies for this.
