I did not jump on the bandwagon, I remember being on the bus sitting next to friend of mine, we had long trip I was listening to my ipod and I had Death Magnetic playing when I started the song it literally blasted my ears off, I went past 50% of volume it turned to instant noise and very loud, my friend knocked my shoulder, I took out my earphones and noticed people starring at me so I turned it low :v:
R.I.P. your ears

Wait, you're complaining that a metal song was too loud? I think Metal may be the wrong genre for you
Death Magnetic seriously is too loud though.
Its a shame, really. Good music ruined by shite mixing.

sounds fine to me

LP sounds fine, but compare it to the studio version:

And what I find really odd is that I really hate this album's mixing, but I enjoy Boris' Akuma No Uta's mixing, which is way noisier:

Either it's loud mixing or my ears are really damn good, but Hakita also confirms that fact, I saw more people say randomly in youtube comments write the same thing.
it's just crap youtube audio quality.
The video had transcoded audio mp3 converted into ac3/aac, then onto youtube where the audio is then transcoded again.
So your in fact getting the original CD re-encoded 4 times, you think that's a fair comparison to make?

You can't deny it.
No, when I listen to mp3's it's always 320kbps but when I get change I have FLAC's.

It sounds equally shit on actual album as on youtube.
Nobody is denying it. You just have no clue what you're talking about.

but you just said the LP version is fine?
The audio on the CD was really compressed, but AK'z is right about it being a bad idea to compare something from a youtube video. You can't expect an album to still sound good after being uploaded to youtube

I clearly do, it's just too loud and my ears do not lie to me.
I clearly do, it's just too loud and my ears do not lie to me.
you said you listen to an ipod on a bus with 50% increased loudness. You know absolutely nothing.
you said you listen to an ipod on a bus with 50% increased loudness. You know absolutely nothing.
You misunderstood me, as you did since the beginning or either I am not good at explaining things, I have flacs, I have vinyls do you think I do not know what heck I talk about.
Or maybe consider that the Metallica album... just isn't that good?
Or maybe consider that the Metallica album... just isn't that good?
It isn't as good, compared to earlier ones, kill'em all in flac quality is still less loud than newer albums, there was sudden jump between first and ride the lightning.
But I forgot to mention the fact they probably increased it themselves because, different times, Megadeth was on the rise and they also wanted to be louder than anybody.
Why are we talking about the loudness war again ?
Or maybe consider that the Metallica album... just isn't that good?
But Metallica can't make a bad album!!
But Metallica can't make a bad album!!
I hope you don't direct this to me, I'm not some die hard Metallica fan, I find some other albums plain shit to be honest.

Listening to an album like Death Magnetic in Flac won't make much of a difference since the audio on the CD is already so compressed. I'm also going to assume that you were listening through really low quality earbuds which isn't going to help the sound at all

Nah, it was directed at the stubborn, die hard Metallica fans.

I actually had good earbuds at least I used to think that way, previously before I had standard ipod one then I switched, for my computer headphones I have sennheiser ones.
I think we went off-topic a lot with whole discussion.
i love jimi hendrix & he's a part of my musical identity but he gets a lot of unfounded praise from people who know him as a media icon and nothing else
But he was a big media icon and one of the first black rockstars (in the modern rock genre not the rock n roll) so I think it's valid to praise him for that.
Nah, it was directed at the stubborn, die hard Metallica fans.
Just like me I guess. :v:
Allthough I agree they've made some mistakes, DM still remains a good album for me.
I have sennheiser ones.
Speaking of overrated.
I don't think anyone actually thinks Dragonforce are very good. Most of the attention they get are people making fun of them
i think they are good lol

Not my fault I bought the only ones that were available...
Crazy audiophiles :v:

Just pointing it out for you.
