I just made the Khukri, not the Catapulta. I just finished designing the stock. Note that this is still missing the trigger guard and pan.
You are a magnificent craftsman.
You are really really awesome! I also noticed you even have pills in your armory closet. Good thinking.
very nice [editline]03:34PM[/editline] can't wait to see what it looks like when done
This is amazing. Keep up the badass craftsmanship!
I think I love you.
Needs maor safes http://filesmelt.com/downloader/Safeshurrdurr.png
What's the black AK variant on the far right? It looks really cool. :v: Oh and I wish I had a workshop or even a garage to build stuff in. :( Can't wait to see this finished.

Oh snap, RR_Raptor65 is at it again! Looks friggin' sweet, remember to keep us posted!
No worries. I'm headed out to make the Trigger Guard, Flash Fence and Pan cover in a bit. I'm still deciding what I want to do for the Pan itself, I want to avoid welding it to the barrel itself so the musket can be more easily disassembled and cleaned. I'll likely make a half collar that hooks under the barrel. Since the breech of the barrel is hexagonal, the hook will grip it easier and when the barrel is clamped in place in the stock it should be rock solid. The current design I have for the pan should also allow for more reliable ignition than traditional matchlock or flintlock pans.
Do you plan to make the barrell floating or just stick it against the wood? Because floating barrels are better for cooling and accuracy.
It's a 15th century matchlock musket not a tacticool In-line. It's pretty pointless to do a floating barrel in a smoothbore musket anyway. Floating barrels take advantage of the resonance of the barrel, basically causes the gun to react more or less the same way each time you fire, but since a shot being fired out of a smoothbore bounces and tumbles it's down the barrel a floating barrel will give you next to no increase in accuracy.

I just sent off a full size print of the stock to Track so they can find me a good stock, should hear from them in a few days I hope. In the meantime, I've finished the sideplate. The only parts left are the Barrel Band, Ramrod Keeper, Pan Cover, Flash Fence and the Pan itself. Most of those are small and fairly easy to make, though the Pan and Flash Fence will take awhile since they have to be made from very heavy steel and have certain areas ground down to a thinner gauge.
I finally finished the hard part on the Pan, all that's left is to cut a slot for the Flash Fence. Now all that's left is the Buttplate, which is piss easy. The Stock, which will also be fairly easy, though it will take some time, and the Barrel band to go with that, which is just a thin piece of steel welded at the bottom. The Pan is now assembled:
Looks sick man, keep up the good work. Can't wait to see this finished.
awesome work.. cant wait for the finished thing!. p.s: i dare you to shoot something and take a picture
I'm gonna shoot my old CRT monitor with it when I'm done.
WAIT! Don't do that, They are useful.
Yeah, as musket targets. Nah, it's pretty old and busted, it's an old NEC 22" that finally pooped out on me one day. I just got word back from Track about the stock. It will require some very minor tweaking in some areas but it appears to be a go. Unfortunately this means there will be no updates until next week as I will be in Kalifornia celebrating my Grandfather's 90th birthday. 90 years old and the man still walks 5 miles every day to stay fit.
Have a great week, I can't wait for the next update, this project is awesome :banjo:
Well I'm back from Kalifornia and the walnut is here. It's just a massive slab of wood, easily as long as I am tall. Turns out that I won't have to alter my stock design at all as I found an angle that the pattern fits on the wood. I've got to get a Bandsaw to properly cut it before I can start carving.
This is all really interesting ha, I wish my projects were even somewhat as awesome as this. Great work.
Still a lot of work to do but I'm about half way done carving the inlet for the barrel. Even at this stage, the gun really isn't very heavy for it's size, the muzzle easily reaches my eye level when stood upright.
looks nice, can't wait to see the end product.
Look pretty complex but good luck
If you think this is complex then even a fucking AK would blow your mind

Been awhile since the last update, I know. I needed a break, carving out that barrel inlet really makes a mess of your knuckles. But it's done, and I cut an inlet and drilled a hole into the stock to hold the ramrod. And just so you can get a better idea of just how big this gun is:
Oh, it's one of those huge things. Awesome.
