Didnt you hurt yourself in the eye at your last project ?. I remember it being some kind of molten metal accident.
I do remember him getting metal fragments in his eye with the kukri.
I could be wrong though.
No, last time I got a spark in my eye from grinding a rivet off a piece of armour so it could be replaced. I was being lazy because it was a two second grind and didn't wear my face shield.
Basically my eye got so dried out that when I went to bed, my eye got glued to my eyelid and when I woke up it tore a small piece off my eye. Should heal up in a few days and it's not bothering my vision, it just stings when I blink.
Damnit man, when are you going to start doing 40k Armour (Guardsman) and a life size semi realistic Lasgun?
Also, you might want to attach a safety/trigger lock, can't be too careful afterall.
Wow, this is looking really awesome. I <3 your stuff RR_Raptor65.
Thats Pretty Damn cool.
How much has it cost so far?
Big update time.
First off, I ordered a ball mould.

Second, along with the mould I ordered stain, sealer and finish, and stained the stock.

In a few hours I'll put the sealer and finish on too. After that, some final tweaking to the mainspring in the lock, rivet the lock and sideplate in and attach the trigger guard and buttplate, after that the gun will be done and ready to fire.
Oh and, guess what this is:

Some sort of table, wouldn't know what exactly.
Edit:
Why did I only just notice Facepunch got Hasselhoff'd?
awesome mould!
p.s why did facepunch get the "hasslehoff" treatment anyway?
THe Feet look like those of my workbench ... just longer
Wow i look for this all the time.
This is great man !
Your next prject should be a shot gun, With some Cocking Action

The suspence is killing me D:
Actually, next time I go down to Kalifornia there is a side by side shotgun with a Damascus barrel I'm going to bring back and restore since it has no stock at all. Really good looking gun, but very rough and beat up, but I can bring it back to working condition no problem. I should have grabbed it and taken it with me to begin with but I wanted to get out of that shithole and wasn't thinking of it much. A side by side with a matchlock buttstock would be quite a sight.

My guess is a plasma cutter. Like the automated kind that follows a path you have set up on a computer.
Exactly right, it's one of those CAD Plasma cutters. I got a real beast of a computer coming from Newegg next week to run it too. The great thing about that is I can set up a webcam out there, so short of making it so you guys can watch this stuff being made if you're interested in more detail, I'll be able to chat with my buddies on Steam while I work. The plasma cutter we got for it is able to cut up to an inch and a half of steel (about 40mm) as well, got a real bargain on it because it had no documentation, but a quick email to the manufacturer got us all the manuals and guides for free.
I just applied the last coat of sealer on the matchlock stock too. The wood is really looking amazing and the color is perfect. Pictures when I get the finish on, I'll probably only put on one coat of finish but we'll see, I don't want it to be super glossy.

Very nice, how much did it cost?
About $12k I believe, most of that being the damn CAD program. You know what Autodesk is like.
That was the other thing we brought back from Kalifornia, my grandmother was looking to bribe us with the Plasma CAD to do things her way but she neglected to consider that she was still living in that shit hole and doesn't have any control over us, but I won't go into detail there.

What do you work as?!
Plasma CAD now, but like I said, my grandmother paid for the machine.
CAD can be a real rip off sometimes but its a gift from god program

Ofc, you will need to post us the epic pictures and what-not of the doing so of this re-creation
Alright, it's done. I may disassemble the lock again later and tweak mechanism but it's fine for now.

Tomorrow I'll clean the ball mould and cast some balls too.
Love your work Raptor.
Show us a video of you shooting it. It looks great.
Can't wait.
okay cool now build me one.
awesome.. are you thinking of selling it afterwards?.
Nah, I never sell the first edition, only the copies of it. I plan on making more using the things I learned from this one, but I want to make a copy cutter for making stocks first.
I had the idea of making a mould of the barrel and cutting the inlet with the copy cutter, this would make an extremely accurate inlet in just a few minutes rather than cutting it all by hand over a number of days.
I could even expand on this by making finished stocks out of styrofoam or plaster and cutting the entire stock out with the copy cutter. All that would be needed after that is a good sanding to smooth it all out and stain.
But first I'm going to focus mainly on locks, the lock I used for this gun is one of about a half dozen different mechanism designs I have. In the future I'll likely replace the lock in this gun with a more efficient version. The great thing is that now that I have the Plasma CAD, I can draw up a mechanism design, and bang out a finished lock in a day or two, 80% of the work I did on this one was cutting and grinding the pieces to shape, which not only wastes material but takes a long time. Eventually I'll expand to Wheellocks and Flintlocks as well.

Good luck man! You sound like you have a pretty solid plan, I hope everything turns out like you want it to. :) The finished musket looks great, and if you could improve it, that would be fantastic.
Yeah, there's a few things about it that I'm not happy with and will improve in the future, but as a first it'll do fine.
I just took the lock off again and found out why the serpentine wasn't throwing all the way, the sear was twisting inside the lock, so I was able to tighten the sear rivet and shim it up with some washers, now it's throwing around 85-90%. I'm gonna grind down the spring a little more, that thing is already less than a millimeter thick yet the trigger pull it produces is amazingly strong.
I also cast some musket balls, I just need to run the barrel down to a gunsmith and pick up some powder and patches.
I may go get some stuff to make a cartridge tomorrow too.
