You mean right hand drive? And you i get right hand drive cars in the US, but they're not very common. But, yeah. If you look at the registration plates, they're clearly European.
aren't right-side drive cars flat out illegal in the states unless it's a business need, IE delivery/mail vehicles? not really something I've considered also maybe the term 'left hand drive' comes from your left hand being on stick and dash controls
wow it's just a question relax
It's an unnecessary and stupid question.
aren't right-side drive cars flat out illegal in the states unless it's a business need, IE delivery/mail vehicles? not really something I've considered
As far as I can tell, it's perfectly legal to have a right-hand drive car in the United States, so long as it meets regulations (which some imported right-hand drive cars do not meet without modifications). That said, the only right hand drive vehicle I've seen here in the US is a Jeep Wrangler used by one of our mailmen. I'm pretty sure it's his own vehicle, since it doesn't have any sort of USPS markings on it. Dunno if that'd fall under "business needs" though, since the USPS does have regular mail trucks.
I once saw a driving instructor driving an instruction car with a duplicate set of controls on the right side. Funny thing is he was alone, driving from the right side with nobody in the left.
the average citizen doesn't need fully automatic gas dispensing nozzles!
i get that its a joke but the average joe really doesn't need to pump their own gas. you'd be surprised at how easy it is to get used to not having to get out of your car and having your gas filled for you
Maybe he dropped off all of his students, and was just driving home or wherever, didn't bother to switch seats?
Figured. Still it was a funny sight and caught me off guard.
Is she American
She's obviously Russian.
i get that its a joke but the average joe really doesn't need to pump their own gas. you'd be surprised at how easy it is to get used to not having to get out of your car and having your gas filled for you
Been living in portland for close to a year now. It still sucks.
Or, as someone posted in another thread, "to create jobs"
Yeah, pretty much. http://blog.oregonlive.com/commuting/2012/02/why_cant_oregonians_pump_their.html
i feel bad for people who have to pay for full service at a gas station, don't you have to tip those poor fuckers? or does the law account for that as well? couldn't imagine anybody pumping gas but myself, i guess it's just the way i learned to drive
No, I've never heard of anyone tipping an attendant for pumping gas nor seen any form of tip jar or way to tip them (on a receipt or something). I haven't had to get gas while out of state since I've been driving.
When I first opened this I was a bit fearful that it was a mistake I might make (I've never had to pump my own gas, it's illegal to do so in Oregon), but nope. Instead my head hurts a little now.
Do you guys not have fully automatic gas stations without employees in Oregon?
i get that its a joke but the average joe really doesn't need to pump their own gas. you'd be surprised at how easy it is to get used to not having to get out of your car and having your gas filled for you
No? In Europe, everyone gets their own gas and it's perfectly fine. Other than to create jobs, it's extremely lazy.
Stereotypical as it sounds, but both woman and being blonde at that on a car.... :v:
I forgot about that... I remember one time I was in Portland and I went to pump my gas and the guy came running out and saved the day by pumping my gas. What's the reason behind this again?
The law exists in Oregon, primarily for heavy and or logging vehicles who can easily destroy a station and cause a mess by driving off with the pump still in the vehicle. It used to happen ALOT, but not really enough to warrent such legislation. Thats where the creating jobs thing comes from, but its bs due to how close it cuts stations to the margin most of the time (completely different cause though)
Why is that illegal?
Here in jersey(and Oregon too I think) they pay people to pump your gas for you, so I've never done it before and if I had to do it myself I'd probably blow up the gas station. :v:
i get that its a joke but the average joe really doesn't need to pump their own gas. you'd be surprised at how easy it is to get used to not having to get out of your car and having your gas filled for you
How do you pay without getting out of your car?
If that other car hadn't pulled up this would have went on forever.
How do you pay without getting out of your car?
You hand cash/credit card to one of the guys manning a pump.
You mean right hand drive? And you can get right hand drive cars in the US, but they're not very common. But, yeah. If you look at the registration plates, they're clearly European.
I think it comes from driving on the left side of the road. I had to look it up because they're sitting in the right side of the car so it's confusing
No? In Europe, everyone gets their own gas and it's perfectly fine. Other than to create jobs, it's extremely lazy.
i'm not saying there's a problem with pumping your own gas, geez, i'm just saying having gas pumped for you isn't gonna ruin your life
