You don't believe in bathing or any form of hygiene. Also you sit in saunas all day and have terrible Health Care.
I think that you are mistaking the Scandinavian traditions with the everyday bath. And no, we don't have terrible health care. Everyone knows that.
Name three.
Modern Day ('peacekeeping') Cote d'Ivoire - January 2003 World War 2 (not a war victory, but) Operation Dragoon - 1944 (Free French) April 21st, 1945 (Free French) World War 1 (yes, they didn't entireley lose) Battle of Maysalun - 1922 Second Battle of the Marne - 1918 Second Battle of the Aisne - April 16-May 9, 1917 Battle of Verdun - 1916 First Battle of the Marne - September 5-10, 1914 Older (majority- attacking less powerful countries/ other European states) Battle of Foochow - 1884 Battle of Solferino - 1859 Invasion of Algeria - 1830 Battle of Trocadero - 1823 Battle of Ligny - 1815 Battle of Vauchamps - February 14, 1814 So alot of them are single battles? Ok, so how about the French help during the American war of independence? There were many battles where French troops outnumbered American troops. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France_in_the_American_Revolutionary_War Also tried to avoid mentioning the wars where France just joined in. Of which there are many. Yes, they lost alot, but comparatively less than any other country.
For the sake of some equality, and out of boredom, and in the abominable tradition of copycat threads when countries are involved, what does it mean to be European? Ideas: You live within the European Union. You live in the European continent. Call yourself European. Refuse to call yourself European, because you're actually British (Scottish, English, Welsh), French (Corsican), Spanish (Catalan, Basque), Italian ETC You dislike fast food. You like fast food but are secretly ashamed. You find that Europe is the worst place in the world accept the other places. You have a passport for a European country. Discuss. Or don't. Please rate me dumb, I have. Actually, what none-'European' people mean when they say 'European' might actually be an interesting topic.
As an English person I really consider myself part of Eurpose so I don't get that part. Also we do like fast food when we're broke/need something fast/craving fast food.
And thus
Ho, shit. I read the post the wrong way. I though it was just about wars fought. Not won. Yeah... France has like... Yeah, you know.
If the Cote d'ivoire conflict wasn't a war then what were America's wars? That limits you to WW1 WW2, independence and the annexation of the southern states. Civil wars don't really count. Yes, they helped you very very much. The last example was just something relevant to you. Those battles listed at the end were actually the final victories in a decisive defeat. Oh, and France winning more of wars than any other country justifies you how? Do some research and count them.[/nottruesoedit] Actually, i'm wrong, more than any other country in Europe since the 1495(and that is wars not battles), and out of 168 battles fought since 387 BC, France has won 109, lost 49 and drawn 10. (Source:Niall Ferguson, The Pity of War) Also, can we Europeans have the Statue of Liberty back? Please.
I can travel to visit countless different cultures within hours, that's what I like about being European.
I can travel to visit countless different cultures within hours, that's what I like about being European.
The Schengen Agreement rocks.
Why wouldn't you include Britain in Europe? for me Europe = universal healthcare, nice cars, nice food, nice places, nice everything, cern and most important! Lack of ultra religious bastards that walk the streets
Actually Europe Is very religious, Infact it's why it's quite nice because we don't twist our religions into a hate thing.
We have the EU where every country has its own bad and good sides and characteristics, yet we have a very unified, stable and currency that is worth quite a lot. I can make jokes about the french for baguettes and surrendering and they can make jokes about me being a nazi, yet we pay the same currency. I get cheap electronics (compared to US) but expensive software(compared to US). I like the way my town looks, old buildings, buildings being rebuilt due to WW2 bombs, new ones, socialistic ones, all types. For example, this is the marketplace of my town: They found a medieval cementry right under it when they rebuilt it. [editline]10:45PM[/editline]
Actually Europe Is very religious, Infact it's why it's quite nice because we don't twist our religions into a hate thing.
I wouldn't say that, look at Ireland, especially Dublin. On the other hand you have Spain where Islam gets along with western culture quite well. Germany has a lot of synagogues and mosques. Well ok, leave the ETA out, they are idiots. The Basks will never have their own Country.
East Europe is like your old, roach infested apartment. You hate it, but you're so poor that you can't leave it and find a better one.
For the people that are saying France never won any battles, I have to say one name: Napoleon.
I wouldn't say that, look at Ireland, especially Dublin. .
If you're trying to imply Ireland isn't religious then I seriously am laughing inside. Our constitution gives a higher status to the Catholic god.
