And autons and sycorax and all the rest, yeah
Doctor Who is currently flushing the shit away.
At 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 children start watching Doctor Who, after-all, it's a kids show. They get so caught up in the action over the years they forget it's a kids show, they got caught up in the performance of Tennant. Soon as he left their view of the show changes. These children are now 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17. Teenagers. Teenagers like to moan on the internet. Teenagers HATE watching a kids show. And now Tennant has gone they have started realising it's a kids show again. And so we see a flurry of hate on the internet as thousands of teenagers fall out of love with the show.
But, at the same time, millions of 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 year olds are beginning to watch Doctor Who. Smith is their first Doctor, and next year as more fans leave, more will begin watching. The hate will stop as children don't voice opinions. In five years time Doctor Who will have a new fanbase of people who love the show. Smith will be the new Tennant. And when he leaves it will happen all over again. Like a toilet, the dirty water is being flushed out as the new clean water floods in.
Of course not all teenagers are leaving. A lot like to stick around as a lot know good TV. Doctor Who won't be cancelled, like the lead actor, the fanbase is constantly changing.
That, and BBC won't axe the show aslong as it sells merchandise.
And there's the people who are over 12 but love the show anyway.
My first doctor was William Hartnel, I think. The episode where the daleks first appear, my dad showed me it when I was like 4 or 5.
Doctor Who scores ratings of 4.5 million.
Lowest ratings since the shows revival.
But only 13 million were watching TV. Only 13 million out of the whole country. To put that in context, Doctor Who has had 12 million ratings before. So nobody was watching Doctor Who because nobody was watching TV.
I wasn't watching, I shall later.
That's because this series is shit.
I'm sorry I forgot that having an opinion is a terrible terrible thing nice going Dragon.
That's because this series is shit.
You couldn't be more wrong.
Also I don't think you read what he said very well.
That's because this series is shit.
You clearly didn't read properly. Even though it's 4.5, it's still good ratings.
The highest thing of the day was only 6 million.
I'm not enjoying this series as much as the last, but it's still very very enjoyable television. There are quite a few older adults who are fans, who started watching in the original series days. It's a family show in my opinion, and has something for everyone from about 8 upwards.
just started to watch it recently...pretty cool (BBC America btw)

My 5-6 year old cousin has nightmares about the Daleks. Even seeing a Dalek wallet makes him go "don't show me it!"

In my fanfic(I prefer story. sounds less retarded) i plan to make the `12th doctor's screwdriver identical to riversongs.

The distinction between a fanfic and a story is that a story has original characters and setting an a fanfic merely feeds off of established ideas

Same here, my dad rented the same episode from a libary near where I live, and that was when I first fell in love with Doctor Who for it's cheeseyness and slightly better then B-Grade acting. It was also the first black and white TV show I saw, which added to the Daleks "scare" factor.
I say the new episodes should have half the budget of what they have now so they can be like the classics again!
In my opinion, this series has to be given a few chances because its so radically different - it needs to find its feet. I think we're starting to get the full potential of Matt as an actor round now, or perhaps with Amy's choice. The Eleventh Hour was great - but it was filmed fifth.
I am really, really looking forward to next series. That's the big thing. By that time, they'll be comfortable in their roles, the writing will be a lot better, everything will be of a higher quality. One of the reasons I think people like the other series is because of an attachment to the other Doctors, mostly due to RTD's great talent at characterisation. You have to admit, he was excellent at getting everyone to love the hell out of David Tennant, who as far as actors go wasn't really anything special. He was decent, but what made the connection was the amount of effort the writing put in to make him something special.
I think this series focuses less on the character and more on the mystery, and so the audience has to adjust to that, and so do the writers and the actors. I guess you'll lose viewers and gain them that way too.
Personally, this is my favourite series yet. I don't know why, but these last few episodes have struck the right chord with me in almost every way. I wasn't satisfied with The Beast Below, or the acting in the Angels two parter, but every other episode has been a joy to watch. Particularly Amy's choice.

I think it needs a caption. .-.

I was never scared of the daleks. I fell in love with them as a kid.

When I saw them as a kid I thought "Oh my god what are those things and why do they have a toilet plunger sticking out of them"
This was the second dumbest Smith episode so far. Only The Beast Below was worse than this.

"O mah god, the huge wubby pink space whale came to save ALL the BABBYS :saddowns:"
It was just a disjointed episode overall imo. They tried too much over too little time.
crap episode in my opinion. It took the mother like 10 minutes to realise her son was missing. Just stupid.
My sister who has for the last five years insisted "Doctor Who is SHIT" watched Saturdays episode and can't get over how good it was.

I really liked this episode. Love the Silurian concept.
My only problem is little nit picky things:

A huge minning project in the middle of nowhere with only two houses near-by.

Is that entire town made of four people? Where are other survivors?

Reptiles with boobs

World turned upsidedown, monsters crawling out of the earth. WHAT ABOUT MY HEADPHONES!

I don't care how warped the wood is. Four people pulling, one person pushing and the door had been opened five seconds ago. That was stupid.

Why build a church for a mining village? Where is the priest?
I still like the episode, it feels like it was setting things up for part 2. Like Victory of The Daleks is probably setting up for the finale.

World turned upsidedown, monsters crawling out of the earth. WHAT ABOUT MY HEADPHONES!
This. Terrible plot device, and I knew he was going to be captured as soon as he left.

He is like 5, and dyslexic, but still it is pretty stupid.
Rest of the episode was good though.

They should have done the last one for the males.
That picture at the bottom looks much better than the face for them in the current episode.
