Actually, your previous statement was wrong. I listen to metal, because I enjoy it. I also listen to a multitude of other types of music. I never claim for metal to be the best genre, in fact I have a friend who is always claiming it to be the best, and I continuously try getting him in Jazz and the likes.
If I wanted to be edgy and trendy, I'd listen to stuff like Waking The Cadaver, Bring Me The Horizon, or even of lot of this new 'Indie rock' that has been coming out in recent years.
