I like that Saxton's chest hair is just an upside-down Australia.

And the hole he made in a wall is also Australia-shaped.

aw man I must have read over the comments, I was so excited.
pretty great, still haven't touched this game in almost 5 years. maybe i'll reinstall and play with my little brother.
JB Blanc is a instantly recognizable voice actor due to his many casting roles as "himself" and "himself but fake russian accent". :v:
But it's... already done? Why else would they put up a 4 day update page?
I think he's saying he thinks most of the next 3 days will also be mostly community made content.
Most of this shit is community created which is fine but I guess you can just pick what the community made, toss it in an update and ay presto "valves doing something"
If only you'd spend as much time researching as you do coming up with zingers you'd easily find out that this is update is going to include a lot more than a couple of community made hats.
Based on what we've been teased and what has been leaked, here's a list I've made of what's likely going to be included in the update:
- A re-work of the pyro class (one of the weakest classes in the game, so a well needed one)
- New weapons for the pyro, maybe other classes (jetpack for pyro has pretty much been confirmed now)
- A huge amount of balance changes, some of which have already been teased to us
- A re-work of the competitive mode, which originally shipped in a pretty bad state in Meet your Match
- A new valve map, jungle themed and control-point based, and 5 community maps
- Contract system making a return (not yet officialy confirmed, but it's pretty much a given considering that all the latest big updates have had it (gun mettle, tough break, invasion, halloween 2016 event)
- New weapon skins for non-stock weapons
- New taunts, 5 community made and 3 Valve made
- New cosmetics. Some made by valve, but mostly community made ones
- A new SFM short (already released)
I wish there were more shorts like this one, I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the patch to come out.
I wish there were more shorts like this one, I really enjoyed it.
Didn't Meet the Pyro take like 3 years to develop because Valve kept starting from scratch and throwing scenes over and over again and sometimes didn't work at all on it?
One of the major issues of doing these shorts is getting the TF2 humor right without diving into absolute lolrandumb humor.
Too bad I'm banned from alot of Source games otherwise I'd consider playing this then back out of doing so because the amount of shit ingame is confusing as hell.
Is competitive mode stripped for strange weapons or is it everything allowed?
0:21 nice to see Valve still is king of reusing assets.
I clicked this thread thinking this was just another fan source filmmaker project. Listening to it evolve from the prerecorded voice lines into actual new voice acting was a very confusing experience let me tell you
Is competitive mode stripped for strange weapons or is it everything allowed?
Comp mode has everything allowed, but the new version is coming sometime this week, so play it then. Brand new elo system.

Thanks for making this list! I guess I've been out of the loop for this update, but then again I haven't touched TF2 in a while. Has pyro always been really weak? I've seen some really good pyros and raged at a few unless they did an update that made him weaker. :0
Also, how is competitive mode going to be re-worked? Meet your match has been one of the weaker updates imo.

Pyro is weak against good players because he is limited severely by mobility. As a close-range class, he can simply be dominated by any class able to outmaneuver him.
So far we've heard that they plan to rework competitive by adding an Elo system and placement matches. Beyond that, we don't know any specifics (the information is hidden behind one of the locked days).

One of the biggest issues with pyro is that his flamethrower is the glitchiest weapon in the game. The fire you see is completely unrepresentative of the actual fire hitboxes; sometimes you can appear to be shooting fire straight through thin floors, while your actual flames are bouncing off who knows where. You also have to lead your flamethrower without having a clear indication of where your flames are going to end up. There's some bigger glitches too, like how the flamethrower wildly varies in range depending on the player's ping, and airblast will fling projectiles in random directions if you're trying to airblast through a teammate.
Basically flames are so wonky that there's no telling what your actual dps will be.

This is why you don't see Pyro much in competitive, and when you do, he's doing tiny, tiny puffs of flames around corners and using his shotgun the most.
This feels like it's 5 years late

the game is free to play, and despite what you may think; being an epic hacker with a reputation doesn't prohibit you from creating a new account
that and the fucking phlog or whatever its called has a dumb particle that sets you on fire like a few feet away from where the visuals actually ends
that's because the phlog uses the normal flamethrower particle hitboxes.
that and the fucking phlog or whatever its called has a dumb particle that sets you on fire like a few feet away from where the visuals actually ends
All flamethrowers have identical flamethrower hitboxes, the phlog visual differences are strictly visual. But yeah, the phlog does an even WORSE job of showing you where the actual fire hitboxes are.

I'm not claiming to be an "epic hacker with a reputation" I'm just saying, it's the reason I'm not considering playing this then backing out of doing so because the amount of shit ingame is confusing as hell.
Also I used an Aimbot on CS:S on a surf map when I was like, 14 or so.

And I'm glad that they're doing it but you can't blame me for my lack of optimism when it comes to Valve. I've lost faith in them to do a lot of things nowadays because they're basically printing money with Steam, DOTA and CS:GO.
I'm not trying to make "epic zingers", I'm saying what people don't wanna say. Everyone through a shit fit about me calling Valve cunts in the beginning, then everyone started to call them cunts and now they're actually doing something that should of been done long ago.
Pyro's glitchiness, they had PLENTY of time to fix that. The game's been out for 10 fucking years and there was a Pyro class update was 5 years ago. The fire glitch issue has been around for a fairly long time and they've taken 10 years to implement a fix (or sorta fix). Better late than never but don't start applauding valve for doing something simple.
I want to believe that maybe Valve is getting better with community discussion and feedback like the old days, but I am definitely not holding my breath
I was a bit disappointed that the Spy didn't have any voice lines, there definitely could've been some back-and-forth between him and the Scout in the first few moments.
Spy did fuck all in this video. He showed up with Scout, disappeared for no reason, and then reappeared at the end. They could have removed him entirely, reworked Scout a little bit, and it'd be the same.

If I were to hazard a guess, they animated him there incase they were able to acquire the voice actor down the line. Looks like they weren't.

You could still remove him last minute and not really "fuck up" the animation
Day 2 has been revealed btw.
[editline]18th October 2017[/editline]
Seems like they're ripping off CSGO even more than usual, no matter, the CSGO ops are usually p decent overall.

Actually, it's a pretty good diversion from what we've had. War Paints if done right can re-kindle the trading community due of how accessible and simple it is, you can slap skins on all the weapons in TF2.

Why am I not surprised. I don't mind CSGO operations but boy buying a fucking admission ticket just to get a case that you need a key to open isn't that great

Still doesn't quite solve one problem: Making crafting Metals relevant again.
