Why am I not surprised. I don't mind CSGO operations but boy buying a fucking admission ticket just to get a case that you need a key to open isn't that great
That's not how this works at all.
Still doesn't quite solve one problem: Making crafting Metals relevant again.
That will never happen unless Valve makes every craft recipe 10-30 refined. There is so much refined metal on the market that inflation makes it literally useless as compared to post-launch crafting.

5000 refined metal available on Marketplace.tf for 0.10 CAD.

The pass is only for progression cosmetics. They will have case drops like normal, just like CSGO does it.
I am one of those "those" fans that absolutely despise Saxton Hale (Australian Chuck Norris? H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!) and his influence on the story and style of TF2, so this video did absolutely nothing for me.
The actual update looks great though.
oh my god i remember jb blanc from all the uruks that i encountered
jesus christ i thought he was gary schwartz

At least Hale has more faults than Internet image of Chuck Norris. He may be one of the best fighters in the TF2 world, but he's not smart enough to run Mann Co. to its fullest potential. Case in point, trying to make a park for nigh-extinct animals that are guaranteed to break out, so the customers can fight them.
He's not a character without flaws, but he's honestly still very charming. You know, in a "no homo" kind of way. His personality fits well the themes of masculinity and ridiculousness TF2 has.
Spy did fuck all in this video. He showed up with Scout, disappeared for no reason, and then reappeared at the end. They could have removed him entirely, reworked Scout a little bit, and it'd be the same.
when people ask me if the tf2 shorts are representative of the gameplay, i tell them "yes. 100 percent"
when people ask me if the tf2 shorts are representative of the gameplay, i tell them "yes. 100 percent"
If you really think of it, most of the Meet the Team shorts represent the worst players pretty well.
Scout: Cocky, think they can solo anything and everything.
Soldier: Sitting in spawn telling everyone how to play.
Pyro: Rest of the team is questioning where the hell their mind is, but continues to run forward and burn everything.
Engineer: Mic-spamming music / using a looping taunt, hiding behind a sentry that's not in a good spot.
Medic: Stuck in spawn building Uber because other teammates are getting camped by an army of soldiers.
Sniper: Claims to have no feelings, daddy issues; gets angry when killed by a body shot or asked about feelings.
Spy: Always getting shot by teammates, hiding behind the front lines instead of doing spy business where they should be.
And I'm glad that they're doing it but you can't blame me for my lack of optimism when it comes to Valve. I've lost faith in them to do a lot of things nowadays because they're basically printing money with Steam, DOTA and CS:GO.
I'm not trying to make "epic zingers", I'm saying what people don't wanna say. Everyone through a shit fit about me calling Valve cunts in the beginning, then everyone started to call them cunts and now they're actually doing something that should of been done long ago.
Pyro's glitchiness, they had PLENTY of time to fix that. The game's been out for 10 fucking years and there was a Pyro class update was 5 years ago. The fire glitch issue has been around for a fairly long time and they've taken 10 years to implement a fix (or sorta fix). Better late than never but don't start applauding valve for doing something simple.
I want to believe that maybe Valve is getting better with community discussion and feedback like the old days, but I am definitely not holding my breath
The fucking dev team didn't even test the balance passes they made for MyM, and lied about another weapon's abilities all the while that update was super, super late and tiny for what it was, considering it just poorly copied shit from other Valve games. Yet when an update rolls around somehow they forget that this update has had an obscenely long development period. The next two days better be fucking huge because all they've shown off is Contracts that are finally to the level of CS:Go's... several years after CS:GO made them relevant, and some community maps.
For over a year of work.

The paints are a good idea, many community items were accepted, and we still have the pyro weapons plus the new matchmaking system and the second contract campaign coming.(which will be free)
Cool.
Still cancelled updates, left MyM in a broken state, and again; it's been over 460 days of development.
That's ridiculous

I agree it's a long time, but they are
rebalancing virtually every weapon in the game, on top of brand new systems. This stuff takes time.

Uh.
They have never mentioned retooling nearly every weapon. Even the early looks at weapon balancing, for the most part were based on giving certain types of weapons rebalancing, and even then, they straight up announced that only a few classes will have more than one weapon played with, like the spy, scout, heavy and pyro.

yeah we get it. i dont think anyone is going to argue that tf2's current state is really sad. let people be happy a decent looking update is finally coming out.
I havent actually played tf2 since mym.
Did people, like, actually get used to godawful matchmaking?

They fixed it after release. I quite like it.
I wasn't feeling it when I tried it, joined casual but still felt competitive to a point over and I didn't much like the interface for it. I kinda missed the simplicity of just joining a VALVe server at random, usually would get in a good game unless some fuckers are "friendlies". Pub stomping was good fun but every once in awhile some asshat would join a real game and announce friendly and get mad. Gets boring. One time I got vote kicked off a valve server because I was killing with impunity to get those damn ducks to Quackstons Own, I was like wtf
I wanted this system for that reason though. I'll have to try it some more.

Nope I still hate it with a passion since MVM.
The only saving grace is the fact that you get a to see a bunch of numbers going up so it doesn't feel like you're wasting time completely.
Cue avgn: What were they thinking? over here.

Day 3 is out btw

Damnit. I'm still sore that Pyro won, I want more Heavy things.

in the grand scheme of things they ended up nerfing the pyro's potential damage by nerfing afterburn.
again.
His damage has been pathetic for ages, you're literally better off using the shotgun for anything but airblasts. Come on.
Don't get me wrong, the other stuff is cool- but Pyro's biggest problem IMO is that his DPS with his close quarters ambush weapon is worse than the "sidearm" he gets that several other classes get and one weaker class gets as a primary. I'm really happy that they supposedly fixed the poor consistency with his particle effects, but they've been slowly nerfing his overall damage output with his flamethrower for years because people get salty when they fail to kill a single pyro charging them down and I'm real tired of it.

yeah, as glad as i am to see pyro issues getting fixed after 10 years, heavy has the least toys to play with of any class in the game
he has a sandvich, shittier sandviches, and shittier (and often boring) versions of his stock weapons
what a great selection
Get fucked heavy players have fun waiting 2 years for your update.
Until the surprise Heavy update is announced tomorrow
It seems like they're completely killing off puff & sting tactics from the pyro, which is both good and kinda bad. The flare guns will still be useful one way or another, but the axtinguisher will continue to be absolute garbage if you can't switch to it and swing before their afterburn stops ticking. If people don't switch over to the jetpack, they'll probably just switch over to degreaser/reserve shooter to get the easy mini-crit combo if they can't adapt to the new afterburn mechanics.
I really liked the puff & sting combos pyro had before the degreaser came out, though. It made playing pyro feel fun to play as, and it made dying to a pyro less annoying if they used a combination of their tools to kill you rather than relying on the m1 button.
Wonder how The Thermal Thruster is going to work on 10x. It'll probably just send you skyrocketing into the level's ceiling.
Gas Passer looks like something that would deter pyro spy-checking, since it's pretty much assisted team-killing

What do you mean? Gas passer doesn't do anything to teammates. It explicitly says it only coats enemies.
