Best place to start would probably be The Crane Wife since lots of people consider it to be one of, if not their best. Other than that I've only heard The Hazards of Love and The King Is Dead. The King Is Dead is pretty decent, not much more to say about it. Lots of people seem to hate The Hazards of Love and it's a bit different than their others but I love it.
I should probably get their first three studio albums since I hear those are great too.
I also have the one with the chinese midgets on the cover, so I'll have to try both.

It's more a thing to determine /mu/core or something. It's all a bit nebulous right now.
It'd be interesting if there was a tool based on usage by site. Like one that would tell which albums people who use the app from facepunch generally listen to. Not sure if that's possible.
If I based it off of referrals, maybe. I see where many people come from based on site.
