This whole discussion is way above my head but I don't mind. I'm glad this discussion isn't prominent in Austria because then I'd actually have to research and stuff.
Could somebody post a tl;dr version of this probably? Like, what it's about and what the real problems are? The discussion in this thread was way too indepth to follow. The only thing I know about it are the retarded Tumblr Users so I immediatly think everybody that uses these points is incredibly stupid and/or an attention whore :v:
Don't treat people as objects to fuck or/and as decoration because it leads to many problems that have no reason to exist.

Could you give some examples of this happening in real life that does not relate to media?
Because I'm having a hard time understanding the problem when I can't really see it or understand how it happens in real life with people.

This. Everybody that does this in real life is immediatly considered a major asshole.
And everybody knows that the media is fucked.

What do you mean media? I think you're misunderstanding something. It's not that there's the media area and the real life area that both exist in a vacuum and are completely separate from each other. The thread is about social standards. Something that society or parts of society do. What you see in the media is just a reflection of what's happening within society. Movies and shows happening in our world have to be grounded in reality so that we can to relate to them. People will have jobs, meet friends, go out for parties, have families, have their goals, ideals and a way of thinking. Dumb example: people expect that those who hurt other people will be put to justice and that there are innocent and evil people. That's why in many movies you have good guys vs bad guys. There's a standard within society that parents take care of their children, it's expected of them. So, most of the time we have exactly that in movies and whatnot, and when it's the other way around it's presented as something negative. If the social standard across the world was that parents shouldn't raise their own children and say the government should do that, it would be presented that way as a norm and deviation from that would be presented as something negative. But the society isn't homogenic, you'll have many social standards presented, often contradictory. Sometimes something that's a good thing in one culture or certain circles will be presented as something positive. For instance you could see a movie where the idea that life is only for partying without any responsibilities is a good thing.
Similarly you can see a movie where treating women as sex toys without any personality is a good thing or at least something normal and something that nobody should get angry about. (don't confuse portraying X as good or normal and criticizing X by showing a character who thinks X is good or normal and gets in trouble or hurts other people because of that.) It's not a problem on itself, it's a reflection of the problem, it's still is a bad thing as it perpetuates a negative social standard though. The real problem is that people actually think this way.
The media is just something that spreads and sustains social standards but it could as well be done without it, say some strange standard (custom?) in a small town or something expects all men to be a hunter and go on this big hunt once a year. So don't look at this as media world, and real life world being separate things. The media is just a way the ideas are transferred.
As to why evaluating people based only on their looks is bad? I think the vid explains this very well. There's an acceptable level of objectification as we are sexual beings and from time to time we'll just go "ooooh I'd just love to fuck that ass" (at which point you have looked on her only as an object that looks nice and is sexually arousing and not as an actual person with a personality) and if you do this too much, it's not healthy at all. It makes people get obsessed about their looks who think that the way they look is the most important part of their person. You think there aren't many people like that? Go into a shopping mall and you'll probably meet some people spending most of their money on clothes to cater to a new fashion. And focusing this on women creates all bunch of bullshit. It makes men think of women as something to stick your dick in with what you can't be friends. You think there aren't many people like that? Go talk with young guys in night clubs in a shit part of town or in smaller towns. It makes women less of a human. Most movies are from a perspective of a guy, why? Again a social norm that I've talked about earlier reflected in the media. We are so used to it all that we barely notice any of the bullshit.
Now those things may not be an acceptable norm in your circles but don't assume that everyone thinks like you and your friends, if you get to know people from different circles and environments you'll find out that there's many people so dumb, and so ignorant that it's gonna make your head spin. And so you'll have a show, presenting their norms and standards (for instance idea that if a guy has many sexual partners it's a good thing and if a girl has many sexual partners she's a slut) it's gonna sustain and spread their dumb standards that actually hurt people, creating more dumb and ignorant people.
That music was so fitting.
Objectification of women definetely happens more but it also happens to men as well. She addressed it so there really isn't much to complain about.
I wonder how many subscribers she'd have if sexual objectification wasn't a thing.

Modern editing(Quick cuts and beautiful and simple visuals)
Good writing(See every comment in this thread about how well she researched this)
Great acting(Lots of passion, especially near the end)
Probably alot. Her style reminds me of channels like v-sauce who is very popular despite being a man.
That video was awesome
