If you want a taste of being blind, get lasik surgery. What if all the colors in the world are different to everyone, what if green to some people would be blue when viewed through their eye. What if when i look i a color i see green, but if it was my perception through your eyes, it would look red?

Thinking about it makes my head explode

My astigmatism is at the point where if it keeps going at this rate, I will be completely blind in about 10 years. It's a scary thought but in a way I do feel like I can pull through.
You can explain the theory of colour (e.g. the idea of different wavelengths of light being absorbed/reflected by objects and then being absorbed by and stimulating rod cells in the eye) but you can't explain the sensation of colour. I remember reading about a girl being born with some eye condition (I don't remember which one, but it seemed to check out) which meant she was born blind but was able to have surgery to be able to see. When she opened her eyes for the first time, she just started crying at how amazing everything was but because she hadn't grown up with sight she couldn't understand what she was seeing - it was just a random jumble of shapes and colours. The only way she could stand to live was by walking around with her eyes closed, pretending she was blind, occasionally opening her eyes to enjoy the crazy light show.
This reminds me of those threads about if people saw colours differently, IE my blue is different from your blue, but we call them both blue. :psyduck:
I have always wondered about that. For example someone else sees your blue as red. You can't even say "oh, blue is calming like the sea and the sky" because they would see the sea and the sky as red!

Can deaf people eat?
Blind man: I really don't think this will work Me: It will... First colour, Blue! There!
I imagine someone who has been blind all of their life can't visually dream because they have no idea what things look like. But people who have went blind can dream visually because they have memories of what things look like.
They have memories of what it looks like but it won't be exactly the same to them as it is to us. So let's say we gave a blind man a apple and ask him what it feels like he might say "Round" but in his mind he's thinking of something LIKE that and since he can't see the color of it he might think a apple is purple (if he knows what purple is)
This reminds me of those threads about if people saw colours differently, IE my blue is different from your blue, but we call them both blue. :psyduck:
OMG I THINK OF THAT ALL THE TIME! Like do eyes see colours differently but because everyone is used to their own, there is no confusion or way to tell.
With us seeing people colour is connected to an emotion. Red violence, blue calmed. So it would be like retelling a dream, which will never have the same impact on the other person cause you can't describe the feelings you felt.
We do, else you'll be colourblind. That's why they fail at those tests.
And it sucks.
Being blind isn't seeing black, it's seeing nothing. You can no more explain sight to a blind man than you can explain seeing nothing to a sighted one.
So they see nothing. No colour at all. Not even black. My mind just exploded man.
Blind people probably have their own set of colors. [editline]05:06PM[/editline] Secret to only them
You cannot, it is impossible.
Is it possible to explain a color to a blind man?
Is it possible for a blind man to explain colour? No, it's the same thing.
So they see nothing. No colour at all. Not even black. My mind just exploded man.
Welcome to the philosophy of nonexistence.
Can someone get a blind man on here ASAP?
Can someone get a blind man on here ASAP?
Hi.
"The color red, is reddish, you can mix it with yellow to get orange."
With the technology we have of course. They've developed something like eyes. They hook wires into your head, implant nano-technology, and you have to wear a big backpack. Yes, this is real and they only tested it on 3 blind people(Note: This was six months ago) The only glitch with them seing was, was the black dots that would appear randomly. But to sum it up they could see 20/20 HD. I wish I knew what it was called but it's been forever.
So they see nothing. No colour at all. Not even black. My mind just exploded man.
If they don't see in any color, and they don't see in black, what do blind people visualize as nothing? If you see NOTHING what would NOTHING look like?
I would also suggest relating colours to emotions.
