I doubt if this would work at all, but if you close your eyes and look directly at a light while near it, your eyesight goes red.
Maybe it might work for a blind person, this is just speculation though.
Blind people are fucking weird. Some are more weird than others:

i'm colour blind. my penis looks pink and my ass looks black
i'm colour blind. my penis looks pink and my ass looks black
Wow.
I'm totally colorblind, I can't see any colors, and it sucks because I'll never see a sunset or a great view for what it truly is, all I see it shades of grey.
If he wasn't born blind, yeah.
I'm totally colorblind, I can't see any colors, and it sucks because I'll never see a sunset or a great view for what it truly is, all I see it shades of grey.
So... If you watch old black and white movies, are they colour to you?
This reminds me of those threads about if people saw colours differently, IE my blue is different from your blue, but we call them both blue.
:psyduck:
That question is killing me.

ya man, it's pretty cool

Have you always been like that?
Have you always been like that?
well yeah, i was born without 'cones' in my eyes or something i guess apparently and they said that all i had in my eyes were 'rods' which are used to distinguish hue, but my eyes have been really fucked up besides that too, i'm going blind slowly and soon i'm due for laser eye surgery to give me 20/20 vision again

Good luck with that.
Mustv'e been weird to have it explained to you that there's a yet another dimension of sights, you just don't experience, no?

sort of, i get along fine. people just explained to me that different colors are different shades, like pink is a lighter version of red, and red is a very hot color, which sort of helped. it's different, but it's not life-changing, to say the least
Being blind.
You guys can see. You see objects, you understand what a circle looks like, a square, a car, a house, a cow.
Being an experienced blind person, although I'm fortunate enough to have seen before going blind. I understand colours, and cows, and cars etc etc. Though what you see, when you imagine a circle in your head, we know what it feels like, in our head.
Some of you might be able to think of a cube, and be able to rotate it in your head.
I think of what a cube feels like, just like you have sight in your imagination, I have touch. I can feel where the faces are, which way it's rotating, I can draw on a piece of paper what that cube in my mind would look like, by converting the 3D shape i'm holding, to 2D, drawing the outlines of the corners/sides.
You can't get a blind person to imagine a colour. Just like in the 4D thread, we can't imagine what 4D would look like, as we are 3D.
Of course you could say, this sphere is red, this cube is blue, and this pyramid is green, but that isn't colour.
You can explain what colours go well together. It's pretty simple to describe. "Purple socks don't go with yellow pants and a black t shirt".
You're probably thinking, what's the point in that. He can't see what he's wearing. But he can feel the fabric. I can pick out anything from my wardrobe, and tell you what the colours are and where they are on the item of clothing. A few examples, my dark jeans, my favourite pair has metal buttons instead of a zip, and on the top button is 2 circle plates. Of them circle plates, the inside is a ring of red on the button. My t-shirts, some have an elastic ring around the ends of the arms. Some have a hard color, some soft, some round, some with card board in the middle, some with 3 buttons on the front, some with 4, some with non.
Learning each item of clothing is a long process, but it takes a minute a day, to pick some thing out. and if ever I forget what one is, I ask some one. I ask them to tell me the colour, patterns on it, slogans etc. Even ask them to guide my hands along the patterns so I can feel it, as I explained above.
Any questions i'll try to answer.
How bout if someone was born blind and deaf? They dream of feeling?
It's all colorful and whatnot, he'll catch on eventually.
Ever think about what Infrared or Ultraviolet look like? on the bottom of most computer mice there's a weak Infrared light, that light is about as red as your eyes can see, but what if it got redder that that? and plus, the Orange you see on an Orange isn't really orange, It's both red and green at the same fucking time, your eye just gets tricked and combines them together like an idiot, try to imagine that It really looks like.
what I'm saying is that blind people are only missing out on the color spectrum, there are so many other wavelengths to the electromagnetic spectrum waiting to be seen, and It's not impossible either, anyone heard of that chick that can see X-rays? just some simple Genetics and BAM!!!
Rated dumb for an Informative post, WONDERFUL
How do you describe anything to a person born blind?
Do they even know what cars look like?
BONUS: random quote, "People only see what they're trained to see" :monocle:
I see that my automerge is broken
How do you describe anything to a person born blind?

read my post a few above yours.
my brain fried trying to think about explaining a color to a blind man
Tell them to push on their eyes and they will see colors, as long as the blindness isn't in the optic nerve or brain.
Have them smoke Granddaddy Purp weed. The sensation truly tastes like the color purple looks. It's the only way to explain it.
Not grape.
Purple.
I'm pretty sure they take a laser and shave a bit of your eye, they don't cut into your eye with a scalpel or anything.
Also, I never knew it made you blind. Where does it say this?
They have to cut the top bit off your eye so the laser can be more effective. Once their done they just fold it back over.

Thats not how color blind works.
You won't have a problem explaining black to them.
Well, if you do count that as a colour.
Using black as a starting point might actually be a good idea. I still doubt you could do this none the less.

No, there is pure Orange light, its about 590nm range.
So they see nothing. No colour at all. Not even black.
My mind just exploded man.
no, they don't SEE. AT ALL. it is not just like closing your eyes and seeing black. you don't see.
what did the op write?
I'm blind
I could think of a couple ways to do it. They won't fully understand it til they see it, but it's possible.
