no, they don't SEE. AT ALL. it is not just like closing your eyes and seeing black. you don't see.
No, they do see black. There eye for some reason does not sense light, If you close your eyes and cover them, you do not sense light. Same thing, they see black.
Do blind people dream? If so of what?
touch, sound, taste, smell. i would believe there dreams are way more vivid then ours
We all see the same colors because they are the same exact light waves. The light waves you see are the light waves that everyone else sees. That's because these waves are picked up by the retina with all the cones and rods. That's why some people are colorblind because of either damage sensors in the eyes or brain damage in the sensory lobe of the brain.
touch, sound, taste, smell. i would believe there dreams are way more vivid then ours
I would think visualized shapes based on what they can touch and feel.
touch, sound, taste, smell. i would believe there dreams are way more vivid then ours
They feel more real. I had a nightmare of being drowned. To see nothing, but feel the water pulling you in. That was one of my worst nightmares while being blind.
Thats not how color blind works.
uhh, yes it is. I have monochromacy color blindness, i can only see on a greyscale.
uhh, yes it is. I have monochromacy color blindness, i can only see on a greyscale.
Just go fully blind. Be like me. It's way cooler.
Just go fully blind. Be like me. It's way cooler.
i will be soon, i'm going blind unless i get laser eye surgery
i will be soon, i'm going blind unless i get laser eye surgery
What is the actual disease you have? My diseases can't be cured.
Do blind people dream? If so of what?
I've never thought of that. If they haven't had any images process through their brain then what can they dream? :o Something to think about.
Glaucoma, which means even if I get laser eye surgery now, I'll still have vision problems for the rest of my life because the damage to the eye from before is pretty much irreversible.

I suppose if you broke colors down into a series of numbers. Similar in the way in which computers do with images.
Learnt braille yet?
nope, not yet. they estimate if i don't get surgery i'll be legally blind by 2020, though, so i should learn soon.
nope, not yet. they estimate if i don't get surgery i'll be legally blind by 2020, though, so i should learn soon.
Go learn it. It is the best, and make sure to configure your computer for Text to Speech before it's too late. I had to spend 2 full days with my brother getting it setup so I can still use facebook, forums, most websites and IRC. OP did you ask me this today? lol some guy asked me at school today the same exact question. weird.
I'm totally colorblind, I can't see any colors, and it sucks because I'll never see a sunset or a great view for what it truly is, all I see it shades of grey.
Your entire life is in film-noir, drink a lot of whiskey and you'll get the voice to go with the picture.
It's just like explaining feel to a person that's been numb their whole life. Or explaining sound to a deaf man. (Ignore the fact that you can't actually talk to them)
uhh, yes it is. I have monochromacy color blindness, i can only see on a greyscale.
Oh ok I understand, so you can only see variations in brightness?
Red is hot, blue is cold.
Tell them to push on their eyes and they will see colors, as long as the blindness isn't in the optic nerve or brain.
I thought I was the only one who figured this out
Red is hot, blue is cold.
And pink makes you extra bold. :effort:
Ever seen the movie Mask? They do it a certain way in that movie, with cold objects being blue and warm objects being red and whatnot. It's really the closest way to describing color to a blind person that I can imagine
Such a good movie.
Oh ok I understand, so you can only see variations in brightness?
this is true
You won't have a problem explaining black to them. Well, if you do count that as a colour.
Blind people don't see black. They see nothing. I know this because I know exactly what blind people see.
I feel so lucky that I'm not blind in any way. Thank you world!
Could you not explain color in terms of frequency?
Do blind people dream? If so of what?
You dont dream with your eyes, you dream with your mind. He might see basic stuff in his dream but not too detailed since he might not remember what stuff looks like, if he wasnt always blind.
This reminds me of those threads about if people saw colours differently, IE my blue is different from your blue, but we call them both blue. :psyduck:
My left eye sees color different from my right eye. It's more sensitive to yellow/orange, just a little bit, and seems slightly more contrasty. If I could, I would apply the "settings" of my left eye to my right eye :/
