I don't know if I should watch this or not. But I hope it's so dark because of the video quality, not the actual game.
That's borderline racist...

HOW?
in what possible way is that racist?
HOW?
in what possible way is that racist?
He may be making a reference to the stupid allegations that Capcom was being racist with Resident Evil 5 by having them kill black monsters in Africa.
if I was any closer to the person I was playing it might as well be first person
seriously, if they're going to do horror, they should do it right

Looks nice but is it just me or does this game look really out of date? The graphics are really mucky.
I'm pretty sure I saw a video where you could move and shoot.
Also quick time events... When Chris had to climb along that horizontal pole. What was the point? It was just tapping X.
It's so freaking dark in the first video.
yeah you could sort of do something like moving and shooting, 8:05

That's a horrible UI imo
this has been my largest complaint for the game so far, it just looks so unfitting and large
The one for Chris is massive, yeah, but Leon's and Jake's isn't bad. It just hides down in the corner.
Also quick time events... When Chris had to climb along that horizontal pole. What was the point? It was just tapping X.
~immersion~
~immersion~
Not really, its more about interactivity. Instead of just having a straight cutscene, it gives the player something more to do.
You're in horror when you see how old and clunky not being able to move while shooting is, it doesn't add much more than annoyance.
It changes your tactics though, instead of shooting constantly and circling/running backwards, you have to usually pick a safe distance and point your weapon accurately so you won't take damage and waste ammunition.
It's why tactical games add recoil and the ability to get killed in less than 3 hits. They're both annoyances if you play expect them to play like action shooters, but you're expected to drop that "action" play style.
So someone released the T-Virus in America, while Ganados reside everywhere else, pretty cool.
I know for sure I'm going to pick this up.
I didn't like it. I loved RE 4, and RE 5 was pretty fun.
This one just feels off. Especially the aiming.
Wow it looks like shit. Leons portion was the only one that gave me even somewhat of a RE vibe, and even then it was shit.
Shitty action game and no Wesker; looks like a pass to me.
It looked really really clunky, not very impressed.
Wow, I totally get such a horror vibe from Leon's sections, especially when he explodes zombie heads with roundhouse kicks.
No it doesn't, bad gameplay mechanics should not be in a game just because it's been in the game before. Not being able to move and shoot at the same time is fucking dumb and is a bad gameplay mechanic that should be fixed. Keeping a fucking dumb part of the game just because it was in the previous ones is fucking stupid.
Its not bad gameplay mechanics, they do it on purpose, it adds a lot of stress and tension that you have to stand there and be quick or you will get surrounded.
Fighting those blind guys with the claws in RE4 was fucking stressful as fuck because you couldnt make sound and had to kept moving and when you had to shoot you had to stand still and they charge you and can kill in 1 hit.
That shit was amazing and made it a really memorable moment.
My heart is wanting to love this game as much as I have always loved the Resident Evil installations (bar some obvious exceptions)
But my brain. Is not accepting this to be a Resident Evil game. Yea they want to be different, but it is turning into something entirely different to what the concept of the series is about.
Sadly. I am still going to buy it though.
iirc in re2, you blew zombies half torsos off with revolvers at mid-end of the game
Well at least that happens with a gun. Since when can human beings turn heads into red mist with a kick?
Well at least that happens with a gun. Since when can human beings turn heads into red mist with a kick?
Since when were there giant frog monsters or a super human evil blonde guy or, you know, the undead? Seriously, the entire Resident Evil series has been completely filled with these nonsensical elements, its literally the expectation.

Fans freaked out because RE:4 didn't use the classic camera system and instead use an over the shoulder system. They bitch about something new with every installment. So they slowly introduced new elements instead of throwing them in all at once.
It looked really really clunky, not very impressed.
It's honestly not. Playing the demo, all actions feel very smooth and responsive.
I didn't like it. I loved RE 4, and RE 5 was pretty fun.
This one just feels off. Especially the aiming.
That's really the only complaint I have so far is the fact that the camera practically climbs inside of the character when you go in to aimmode. They need to pull it back a bit really.
except the tension goes away once you are good at it and you just instaturn, walk 5 paces, instaturn, kill as many enemies as you can, repeat
It's actually a fast paced version of rock-paper-scissors. Zombies will dodge your headshots, chest shots are accurate but take up a lot of ammo, leg shots are sort of in-between, they stun one enemy and you can either get a free headshot or use them to knock out the rest at the risk of being near them.
The older RE games were different, I would try to shoot their legs and step on them. I screwed up most of the time though.
Looks a hell of a lot better than Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. Man, that game was awful.
I'll buy it, but it's the last chance I'm giving the franchise. They've already had two strikes with 5 and O.R.C.
This looks like a step in the right direction, if anything. Here's to hoping for the best.
Resident Evil 5 was massively popular, and a lot of people liked it despite some of its issues. Operation Raccoon City however wasn't even made by Capcom, but an outside company, so I can't say its fair to blame them for that.
