Taking pictures through kennel fencing is depressing because it looks like a prison or dog sanctuary, from a photographer's point of view. What's the dog in the middle?

We only let him in the cage when there are guests at our house or we are doing jobs outside. Otherwise he is free as a wind. I might take a picture tomorrow when they will be free This is the only pics i have at the moment Also i found newer photo of rice

No love for Shetland Sheepdogs?
I want nothing more than to get a Siberian Husky when i get my own place. I've loved them more than any other breed and ever since i laid eyes on one for the first time, I've wanted one. We'll see how things go though, I won't get one unless i know I'll be able to care for it...Heard/seen too many stories about what happens when you can't.
German Shepherds make great pets. They are extremely clever, bond very well with their owners/family, and are simply good-natured animals. I've had three, and they were all well-loved members of the family. Zeus and Hera, brother and sister from the same litter, were extremely energetic and protective dogs. Unfortunately, we had to put them both up for adoption following my parents' divorce. Shortly after, we got Nero, who was the sweetest dog you could ask for. He was smart as hell, beautiful, and very sensitive to emotion. We had him for seven years, and had to put him down last winter because he got cancer. German Shepherds make irreplacable members of the family, but they are sadly a very short-lived breed. Pure-breeds typically don't live much longer than seven or eight years, as they're very susceptible to bone and joint diseases (especially in the hips) and colonic cancers. Even still, every dog I ever raise will be a German Shepherd, simply because they are so good-natured and intelligent. [editline]28th July 2012[/editline] I would highly recommend that anybody looking for a dog considers a German Shepherd!
No love for Shetland Sheepdogs?
Lots of love for shelties, they're like my third favorite dog. [editline]29th July 2012[/editline] My friend's Nova is an incredibly cute puppy mix... ...until he opens his mouth. That's pretty damn scary.
Awesome! A thread about dogs! This will be one I can actually participate in. Anyway, heres some content. This is my oldest dog, Maddy. Had her for a good 8 years now! Shes such a loving carefree dog, and even in her older years she is still as energetic as if she was still a puppy (which was when she was goddamn adorable) she still is. She is some type of Pitbull-something mix, but I cant figure it out :v: However I think age is getting to her, she has troubles walking around every once in a while, or maybe its cause shes a big ol' fatty :) But shes an awesome dog and I fear the day she will either die or be put down. Resized pictures because of huge as hell size. Look at dem' chompers And obligatory upside down dog funnehs Oh! And this is our other dog, Coco. We've had her for about..8 months I wanna say, and shes just a bundle of energy. When she gets hyped up she does some serious sprinting and climbing in our house. She goes evvvveeerywhere. But shes a little puppy, what do you expect. I don't know what type of dog she is, so if anyone can figure it out, that would be awesome :v:
No love for Shetland Sheepdogs?
I fucking love my shelties... furry little bastards like to bark all the fucking time. Awesome dogs though. For anyone looking at getting one be weary as they shed like a fur storm. Oh, and I also have a Black Lab, Terrier mix.
Isn't she a beauty?

I'd love to have a dog, but not while I live in a small apartment and am out long periods of the day. Sadly it'll be another 10-20ish years.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domesticated_silver_fox They experimentally reproduced the conditions that led to wolves becoming domesticated, but on foxes.
Belyaev believed that the key factor selected for in the domestication of dogs was not size or reproduction, but behavior; specifically, amenability to domestication, or tameability. He selected for low flight distance, that is, the distance one can approach the animal before it runs away. Selecting this behavior mimics the natural selection that must have occurred in the ancestral past of dogs. More than any other quality, Belyaev believed, tameability must have determined how well an animal would adapt to life among humans. Since behavior is rooted in biology, selecting for tameness and against aggression means selecting for physiological changes in the systems that govern the body's hormones and neurochemicals. Belyaev decided to test his theory by domesticating foxes; in particular, the silver fox, a dark color form of the red fox. He placed a population of them in the same process of domestication, and he decided to submit this population to strong selection pressure for inherent tameness.[3] The result is that Russian scientists now have a number of domesticated foxes that are fundamentally different in temperament and behavior from their wild forebears. Some important changes in physiology and morphology are now visible, such as mottled or spotted colored fur. Many scientists believe that these changes related to selection for tameness are caused by lower adrenaline production in the new breed, causing physiological changes in very few generations and thus yielding genetic combinations not present in the original species. This indicates that selection for tameness (i.e. low flight distance) produces changes that are also influential on the emergence of other "dog-like" traits, such as raised tail and coming into heat every six months rather than annually.
They're basically foxes that behave like dogs.
I remember reading about those a while back. Sadly, I don't think any one breeds them in the US.
IIRC it's like one group of russians that breeds them.
Still, they're pretty inaccessible.

I am going to get a rough collie soon are they a good dog
I am going to get a rough collie soon are they a good dog
They are fantastic and intelligent dogs, but require a lot of coat care and they need to be able to herd to be happy. If you work at a farm then woop-die-doo, if you live in the suburbs then no good.
Why are there no fucking dachshunds in the OP? Wiener dog master race.
