just ignore the letter.
Depends if it's a court letter or not. If it's a court letter then hell do not ignore it under any pretext. Instead try to send a letter to the court asking for post poning of the hearing due to medical issues.
Likiwise if it is a court letter, the question for which he will stand is written in it.
The court can't just send you a letter that a plaintiff wants to have a nice talk with you. It needs to put the question down so you have time to prepare and contest the claim if needed even prior to a court hearing.
So if you claim that there is no reason for it, then you are
a) wrong
b) not telling us everything
c) the letter is not actually a court letter and in effect in absolutely no way binding
People say this with nearly every single court case:
"Welcome to America."
Need to clarify something here, this is the same guy who is already American but is moving to Puerto Rico because of his father's job. Apparently his father needs some surgery done in Puerto Rico meaning the court summons would interfere with it. The OP is not Puerto Rican. If I remember correctly he's ethnically Cuban, but nationally American.
As for the letter, you said summons so I'm going to assume it's a court summons and not just a letter from this Northstar company saying "We're going to sue you!!!". In that case your father needs to:
1. Get a lawyer if he's not already in contact with one.
2. Contact the issuing court and request a new court date citing medical reasons.
Then the surgery issue should be resolved. If you do find out, post why he's getting sued I'd be interested to know.
And the Doctor is in Puerto Rico. He is in serious need of it.
what
My family got sued by people we never knew once, we talked to the family lawyer and determined it was bullshit.
Unless this is a court letter, just ignore it.
I don't see what a Cuban doctor has that one in the US doesn't, except if he's getting a giraffe heart implant or some such shit.
when will people learn?
