how much attention to the story did you pay if this is your take away from it? I'm guessing "fuck all" because of how poor a synopsis of the plot that is.
Our protagonist is in Jersey after the events of MP2, still being a miserable drunken shit who hasn't gotten over the death of his family (actually being more of a miserable fuck than in MP2, because of Flanderization). Some Brazilian dude walks in, saying they went to the police academy together, even though they didn't. Being drunk as fuck, Max believes him; and being chased by the mob, Max accepts his offer to go to Brazil and be some rich asshole's bodyguard. Then, it turns out there was a conspiracy to kill the rich guy (because, organ harvesting in the favelas?), and Max was specifically chosen to be the fall guy, for some contrived political bullshit. If they wanted a shmuck to carry the blame, they could have gotten any bozo off the street. If they knew anything about Max, they would have known he's gone into not one, but two bloody roaring rampages of revenge against the the Russian mob, the Italian mob, and the police. And gotten out on top, against all odds. They could have gotten anyone to be the fall guy, ANYONE, but the Avatar of Vengeance. Why did the conspirators bother to go from Rio all the way to Jersey to trick him, then? I don't fucking know, I just wanted to play the game, but got interrupted by this nonsense plot every two minutes, almost getting seizures from the flashy editing. So yeah, my understanding of the plot might be on the poor side. Veados do caralho.
only on facepunch could I ever see someone ironically talk about how they vicariously faced their demons through a videogame Max's primary addiction wasn't even alcohol, that was a coping mechanism supported by an insane level of pharmaceutical abuse.
I have no clue why any of you are discussing a new Max Payne game by remedy to be a reality. I'm pretty sure rockstar has the IP on lockdown.
2K owns the IP, they can chose to give it to anyone they want to. And Remedy has worked with 2K in the past so it's not completely out of the question that they'd work again. I imagine a Remedy developed Max Payne game would earn them a shitton of money.

What, video games can't be taken seriously by anyone enough for that?
Max's primary addiction wasn't even alcohol, that was a coping mechanism supported by an insane level of pharmaceutical abuse.
Is it a contest?

Just that I disliked the story, which also often disrupts the game. I really like MP1 and MP2, and still I am fully aware that those games have dime-a-dozen noire stories, somewhere between tribute and affectionate parody. But they don't wrestle control away from you to show that yes, Max saw a torn piece of cloth from his boss' tropy wife, flashing and cutting while a TORN CLOTH quote box flashes on the screen.
It was a "Cinema nouveau" styled game. I enjoyed that immensely

Everybody here pretty much agree max payne 3 is fun as fuck just pointing out the crazy and dumb plotholes that I've honestly expected rockstar to have done better with.

I mean it ALWAYS kept leading back to that "inner circle" group. Then again, pretty much every character is dead by the end of MP2. Max payne and that police detective(chief? He was max's boss is all I remembered) was left alive.

I honestly think when you read my posts, you skim them, recognize the name, and get ready to rail on someone you don't like. It's kinda petty. Max Payne 3 is one of my favourite games, I really enjoy the story, and the plot, yes there are holes in it but I also think there's a fair bit of misunderstanding when it comes to the game and it's plot, and I don't like to see people devalue art of any variety.
I stand by Alan Wake being Remedy's best game ever made, even considering its flaws. In regards to storytelling, I've never played a more compelling game. I STILL listen to Old Gods of Asgard (poets of the fall), Poet and the Muse is not only a superb song but a fantastic example of non-traditional plot advancement
Alan Wake is very similar to Stranger Things in that is wears it inspiration on its sleeve on rolls with it in a compelling story using identifiable tropes in a creative fresh way. Remedy always takes refreshing or interesting looks at established genres of writing whether its Max Payne's look into a modern Film Noire, Alan Wake which became a thriller game not a horror game, or the consequences of time travel in Quantum Break.
