I have an idea. Here are two silhouettes with no hair or boobs to help. I bet you know immediately which one is female and which male. I didn't do this very well, cause I whipped it up quickly with my mouse. But you can see right away which one is female. The reason is that females have broader hips, thinner waists and the curves are higher than mens. Because men do have curves too, but when they have muscles on their legs, the bumps are lower than at female muscles. They also have waists that aren't that much thinner than their upper body. [editline]4th December 2010[/editline] Oh and also men have broader shoulders. No matter if the man is skinny or not, his shoulders will be broader than a womans of the same weight. [editline]4th December 2010[/editline] The male face is also broader in the chin and has less curves than the female, which has a thinner chin. [editline]4th December 2010[/editline] I fixed it up a bit. Notice how I only widened the legs a bit and narrowed the shoulders? I also made the eyes narrower in the inner part and bigger in the middle. When not drawing realistically (as detailed as real life), you should know that bigger (more opened eyes) make things look more innocent. And when trying to draw a very feminine character innocence helps.
And now that my friends, is why I don't draw females. They always end up very manly. Anyway about the rest of the body? I think he shoulders are too thick.
And that my friend, is the reason why you should draw females. That is some really good advice Nyaa, sometimes you have to go with stereotypical features to make something look good.
Women's feet are usually smaller as well: currently the thin, drainpipe legs to large wide feet make the legs look quite masculine. [editline]4th December 2010[/editline] The pose is also quite masculine and rigid.
Female done I think. Do I have to color it?
This made my entire day.
Fixed most of the problems the best I could. seeing what you guys think before I continue.
Your character is almost over 7 heads tall while in a hunged, with the legs spread, position. If she'd stand up straight she'd be way over 8 heads tall. I've also drawn the skeleten of your drawing in green to show you that your proportions are far off; some the limbs are longer than others as you can clearly see. There is still a lot of fixxing to be done.
NW, if i were you i would just restart and try to make a simpler pose and something more girly try to draw a girl in a cute little dress with her arms down at her sides just standing there
Yeah, that would probably the best thing to do, start with something fresh. Right now you need to fix a lot of things which, in the end, would probably take a lot more time to get it right than to draw a whole new one.
Yes but what about the head? Does it resemble how a female's head should look? I'm more worried about the head then anything else. I'm also trying to get away from the "just standing there all plain and shit" pose Rety.
it's getting better but not quite there yet (DA-HURR WHAT DO I KNOW I ONLY DRAW CARTOONS)
Look at Nyaa and how she drew it, try to see what she does so well and mimic that. female heads are usually more rounded and smaller than a male head, and cheeks are rarely ever visible unless the girl is skinny or masculine. Get a couple of good reference pictures, try to look at cartoons ; they usually exagerate facial features and I think you should do too, to learn how a female body looks like.

Well I took Rety's advice and started a new one. I'm wondering why I didn't do it sooner. She will be full body.
100000000X better keep it going
New one has tits. This one has tits too. If you can't make your character work nude theres something wrong with the shape. This new one you are doing, bring her bewbs down a bit lower.
I don't know why but that looks like a nudie shot of Charlie Brown after gender reassignment.
Update bitches.
Update bitches. [img_thumb]http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/7741/femalecharacter2.png[/img_thumb]
Peg leg bitches?
Update bitches. [img_thumb]http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/7741/femalecharacter2.png[/img_thumb]
What's up with her leg? I've got to ask you man, are you using any reference pictures? If you don't you really should, and post it in this thread.
What's up with her leg? I've got to ask you man, are you using any reference pictures? If you don't you really should, and post it in this thread.
Nope. Ill get one and post it later.
Why didn't you use a reference picture? You know it yourself that you can't draw females, so it's even more important to have a reference picture.
Update bitches. [img_thumb]http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/7741/femalecharacter2.png[/img_thumb]
aww you ruined it i said make a cute girl in a dress not a slutty ho in a skinthight leather crop top you arent at that level yet [editline]9th December 2010[/editline]
Well I took Rety's advice and started a new one. Well what kind of dress? Short, long, medium?
what i also think you should have done, was just done a normal frontal shot without any pose because you arent experienced enough but whats done is done
That's why I added the second part, so that he can draw some widely different postures for his newly drawn female character. You're doing good so far nightwing and everyone is proud of you following this one through, and I know that once you're finished you will be a much better artist and have plenty of recognition from the rest of the artists here.
You should do some user challenges in the PW section :buddy:
I think I'm gonna use this http://us.fotolia.com/id/4258900 Another update. I fixed the legs up a bit and lengthened the shirt.
Something seems off... I think the hips are too small, but I'm just flingin shit out there.
