I don't know, but whenever I trip or fall in my dream I just spasm and wake up. Then I cry and go wake up mommy.
when i was 5 years old... :sigh:
I sometimes do this, waking with a start. One time I apparently shouted when I woke. >>
I sometimes jerk my leg when I trip and fall in a dream. It's weird.
Hypnic Jerks, dude. They're normal.
Are you obese? I'm pretty sure sleep apnea is very common in obese people.
Very commonly, I have these in the form of something seeing something jump RIGHT in my face as I fall asleep, be it a jaguar, a freight train, or anything... It just comes in my face, and in the moment of "collision", I fall off my bed.
I guess I get hypnic jerks quite a bit then. When I wake up suddenly, I find myself uncontrollably doing the same action as in my dream IRL. Once I was buying a skateboard or some shit in my dream (I don't even skateboard anymore :what:), I was paying for it and then I heard a buzzing noise. I realized I was in a dream then my brain went ololabortdremdurr and I woke up with my hand in the air. Even just daydreaming, if I'm envisioning kicking the living shit out of some really annoying kid in my class I'll break out of it and my leg will kick or my arm will extend or whatever I was doing. Someone drag Lucid Dreaming into this, I almost had it once. I fell asleep normally and in my dream I looked at my hand. I realized I was dreaming after I saw that my fingers were yellow boxes and woke up five seconds later. I wish I could have sleep paralysis for a bit.
You mean the sudden jump just before you fall asleep?
This is why the fucking sleep megathread shouldn't have been locked.
Sleep apnea is when you can't stay asleep because you are not breathing enough. What you are describing sounds like sleep terrors or confusion arousals.
Its called a hypnic jerk when you are startled out of your sleep (either by a dream or outside stimuli).
AAAAAARGH I'M INNOCENT [img_thumb]g[/img_thumb]
I once had it while being sick. I woke up freaked out, breathing really hard. I kept freaking out for about 10 minutes. :saddowns: Worst thing ever.
What happens to me a lot is I dream that I'm running in some sort of arena, I catch my foot on something and wake up as my leg spasms.
