As much as I dislike furries, I'll play live and let live as long as they keep thier fetish away from me and stop making topics in the GD. Same with gays IRL. I really don't look to kindly on them (though people are people, and my Mom gets pissed if I don't respect them because her boss is gay) but aslong as they keep thier wierd fetish away from me, I don't mind.

All right so here's the deal. A decent amount of furries treat the fetish as a life style. To an extent anything can be a life style, but these few take it to extremes. These same furries are often attention whores who make their overly elaborate fursona's and roleplay extreme fetish sex with others via text. They are the one's that brought the resentment to all others out there. Since they are attention whores they make themselves known and shove it in everyone's face; being the most noticed of the furry group they are essentially how a good deal sees every furry. You see some guy get mugged by a shady guy so whenever you see a shady guy after that you keep your distance and hide your shit. You see some furry moaning about how "U GUYS WERE MEAN TO ME >.< WTF ISZ UR PROBLM I AM A FOX TRAPPED IN A HUMAN BODY SEE MY SUIT?!? SEE IT?!" the next time you see anyone who looks furry you will treat them as you treated the latter. Of course not every single fucking furry is like this, just like how not every single gay guy likes fashion and talks with a flamboyant lisp. It's just generalizing. When the internet thinks gay guy they think "that guy who loves cock, talks gay, and likes to shop for 'fashionable' clothes" when the internet sees a furry they think "That seriously fucked up kid who likes to fuck animals" TL;DR It's all about association and the assumed majority.
