Do people who suffer from Aspergers have generally an higher IQ?
I have 4 cousins with Aspergers, but I wasn't diagnosed with it. Which is weird, because as a kid I was extremely anti-social, and I was almost put into an institution when I was 7, because I was extremely depressed and violent, and a "danger to myself and others". Instead, they put me on Fluvoxamine and I've been on that since then. I'm 17 now. As time progressed my moodswings, social behavior, and violence/anger decreased dramatically, as well as getting therapy and going to a correctional school in grade 4 and 5. And yes, I like minecraft. Coincidence?
Did only one doctor say you didn't have it? Maybe you do, or maybe you don't and you were just raised in that environment.
Why exactly rest of you aren't as entertaining as this man:
Because he is fucking weird. You get werid neurotypical people in the same way you get werid people with aspergers/autism etc.
Do you remember stuff no one else can? I was diagnosed at age 5 by four different doctors 3 in different cities, and the last one somewhere in Germany. I remember being born, and I see thing in pictures, do you?
Not me, my memory is so bad I forgot what I did yesterday. But I'm glad to see you're diagnosed by multiple doctors, this usually means you definitely have it.
Auto-merge breaker...
Do people who suffer from Aspergers have generally an higher IQ?
If I understood correctly, they are sometimes especially good at certain things, for example math
Sounds more like photographic memory, not Aspergers.
I have photographic memory and I can't remember shit. It's probably something else that lets him remember that stuff.
You remember being born? No. Your brain at that point is still developing cognitive function and wouldn't be able to do that.
There are many documented cases of people remembering being born. It's usually extremely rare and doctors have no idea why (like many things), but it does happen.
[editline]10th July 2011[/editline]
Nobody in the history of science has been successfully diagnosed with photographic memory. That said, I remember a shitload of stuff from god knows how long ago. Not photographic, but I remember a lot of things and events that others have already forgotten.
Photographic memory is a theory, it means you remember pictures and not details like most people, it's not possible to diagnose currently because you actually need to go inside the brain while it's working and study the connections (which we've yet to understand).
[editline]10th July 2011[/editline]
You can't remember being born. You probably fabricated a memory of your birth.
This happens quite a lot. You can remember it, but it's extremely rare (as I said before).
[editline]10th July 2011[/editline]
You actually can remember being born, but you need to activate that memory with pictures and stories, and you would be able to remember. I read that somewhere.
Anyway, fuck it, i just asked my mom and dad and i'm ok with it.
Question to Aspergers dude: Can you join in military? Since this dude here somewhere couldn't fucking scuba dive.
That's not true with birth, but is true for most memories.
To answer the military question, yes you can join the military. Unless you are deemed physically or mentally unable by a doctor (or you are a flatfoot, like me).
why do all spergs wear fedoras
By 'spergs' I assume you are saying Aspergers. I don't wear one.
[editline]10th July 2011[/editline]
Good to know I am not the only one with Aspergers here, Do you happen to have a OSD about germs?
I am OCD about many things, germs is not one of them. You have to remember about 1/3 of the people in the US have OCD, it's an extremely common disorder.
Do you believe it is a form of autism
We have been over this many times ITT, yes it is one. Read the thread sometime, it helps.
When you talk to people, do you smile really creepily. I know a kid who has aspbergers creepiest smile ever. Please dont smile like that.
He probably doesn't have the hang of it, the lack of social-skills can do that to you. Me, personally, no I do not and have never heard anyone say that.
Do people who suffer from Aspergers have generally an higher IQ?
That's been proven as yes.
That's been proven as yes.
Not it has not. It usually is extremely common for people with Aspergers, but it is not definite and is not 'proven' like a damn theory.
Photographic memory is a theory, it means you remember pictures and not details like most people, it's not possible to diagnose currently because you actually need to go inside the brain while it's working and study the connections (which we've yet to understand).
Uh, no? Photographic memory as most people define it is about how well people remember things. If you can show someone a block randomly assembled legos and have them remember it afterwards, then it's essentially proven. What you're going with is the hypothesis of how it would work, if it existed.
That's been proven as yes.
Any source on that? In any case, IQ is essentially a crock when you get down to something like this
Not it has not. It usually is extremely common for people with Aspergers, but it is not definite and is not 'proven' like a damn theory.
I mean it's been proven it's semi-true, do not post when you've been away for 26 hours.

What the fuck does that mean? Do you even know the scientific method for gods sake?
-snip- (I do not mean to offend him so I am going to remove this - <3)

[editline]10th July 2011[/editline]
And with the 'do not post' thing, why? Am I not allowed to have input? You have no idea what you're talking about.
I was talking about my self for the Do Not Post.
I was talking about my self for the Do Not Post.
Ah, sorry about that then.
the fact that you're making this thread means you don't have aspergers syndrome
the fact that you're making this thread means you don't have aspergers syndrome
It's easier to talk to people through text and whom you have no idea who they are or how they look rather than face to face.
the fact that you're making this thread means you don't have aspergers syndrome
Do you have any idea how stupid and uninformed what you just said is? Like my god man, read a book or something.

Not only that but Autism is a spectrum disorder and it doesn't necessarily mean you are anti-social to have it.
[editline]11th July 2011[/editline]
That is possibly the most uneducated opinion I have ever seen.

It's not saying that he's anti-social? It's just stating that it's easier to talk through letters rather than face to face. It's why I have more friends on the internet.
the fact that you're making this thread means you don't have aspergers syndrome
thanks for the insight dr. cheesemonkey
Okay then, what was the guy who assassinated whatshisface?
Mark David Chapman
No, I didn't look it up
Mark David Chapman
No, I didn't look it up
And? That's pretty common knowledge. Especially for someone who likes the beatles.
thanks for the insight dr. cheesemonkey
My god Zeke you remind me of my father, it's scary how similar your actions and his are. I'm almost definite he has Aspergers as well, but you I don't think so due to how good you are at socializing on the internet.

Winner!
Tell me the first five lyrics of the Yellow Submarine!
And? That's pretty common knowledge. Especially for someone who likes the beatles.
I didn't remember his name and I'm a Beatles fan?
But I do agree, it is common knowledge.
That's been proven as yes.
I have the highest cognitive attainment test scores in the history of my school but that's about all I'm good for.
I have aspergers too.
are you able to fap?
^ That's the same question to the wheelchair guy.
One thing really bothers me.
There is said that people with Aspergers are not socially-stable and have interest in one or two subjects.
Maybe I'm phrasing it wrong, but can a person with Aspergers have big interest in social life?
OP do you really have aspergers or are you just one of those people who say they do?
Correction: Asperger's Syndrome is not a "form of autism". Autism and AS are both disorders on the "autism spectrum" of disorders, a set group of pervasive developmental disorders characterised by common symptoms of social dysfunction, amongst other things. The name "autism spectrum" is just that - a name. It does not mean that all autism spectrum disorders are types of autism - in that case, autism would paradoxically be a variant of itself.

I actually have mild aspergers, but I still find this funny.
What is your favorite derogation term for your ailment?
