I have seen a psychologist for four years, doesn't help at all.
Support from friends doesn't either.
I'm starting to consider antidepressants.
You're not on an anti-depressant right now? Hell, I have for most of my life. Try getting Zoloft, it's cheap and works really well with no side effects.
After that try going back to a psychologist if you don't already have one.
Do you like building with Legos?
(I only ask because of the stereotype that autistic people are obsessed with stacking things)
Yes, I love them.
Did you know that the company with the most autistic people working for it in the world is Lego?
I have Asperger's disorder myself, though it's not as severe as some other people that I know.
What I've noticed about myself is that:
1) I tend to be an easier "social target," bullying, picked on, etc.
2) I am incredibly interested in a certain topic more than any other thing at a time, sometimes more than one. For me currently, those topics are role-playing games, Touhou, and music/singing.
3) Sometimes it's hard for me to tell if someone's being sarcastic or serious, and I tend to be a bit literal-minded at times.
It's really not that difficult to live with, after you've had a little therapy and get a solid footing. I get along with most people fine.
Same here (besides the interests) and that last statement speaks truth.
Sarcasm is a really hard concept because it's hard to understand body-language (which sarcasm and non-literal things rely on) for people with Aspergers.

I'm on so many fucking medicines I don't even know the name of most of them. But Zoloft has stuff that people are commonly allergic to, so he should check what's in it.
Where does this stacking stereotype come from anyways?
[editline]23rd July 2011[/editline]
I mean what the hell man.
Because it's one of the most common symptoms associated with Aspergers.

I'm not allergic to anything besides mold and I don't expect mold to be in the medicine. :v:

Penicillin is a mold.
Honestly, if people with aspergers never told anyone they had it, no one would ever know. I have a couple friends who have it and I never would have guessed.
Your point is...? Knowing you have Aspergers doesn't really mean anything, it's just a fact of life that is just a written word on paper. Unless you want to get in front of everyone in the lines at theme-parks, then it's more than that. Wee!
Penicillin is a mold.
I'm not allergic to that though, odd.

I am and I can't take a lot of medicines because of it.
My cousin and best friend have this as well, can't really tell with my friend though.

The body location thing could be Aspergers, the handwriting could be Dysgraphia, short-term memory is a medical term so it's unrelated to Aspergers, the math & language bit seems like you're left-brained, and the History and Science bit would be your interest.

That sucks. Well, not as bad as my step-mom, she's allergic to caffeine and paper.

If this is self-diagnosed then they might not have it.
I have aspergers which is why I'm a fuckerlord
I have a question that could count as related to topic- and a neat little story to go with it!
So a few months ago I was finally diagnosed with ass-burgers after multiple attempts from doctors and my own parents trying to figure out what was "wrong" with me (I was 17 then and still am now)
I found it increasingly odd afterwards that it took them so long to finally come up with a diagnosis and even then my diagnosis was considered a "mild" case. Coupled with the fact that asperger's and autism have suddenly become a popular issue lead me to believe this revelation and numerous other people's is little more than a steamy pile of horses**t.
My question is:
"When did asperger's and autism become so popular and why has it become viable for so many people?"

Because Genetics.
I've always found this hard to understand about Aspergers,
if for example as a kid you don't like to share your toys with friends, that's fine because kids don't like sharing toys. But when you're a teen do you know that sharing is fine but you find it irritating to do so or do you just not understand the concept of sharing completely.
I just want to know if you know how to share but can't or if you don't know the concept of sharing (it doesn't make sense to you)

Why? Because people like giving a name to everything, we even give a name to places that don't exist.
Viable, what?

That's not Aspergers at all, that's just being a greedy bastard. I share almost everything I have, it has never bothered me.
I too have aspergers, and I also can't sleep well. I take Venlaflaxine. My interests are just nerdy stuff or stuff Facepunch would like. That part of the syndrome isn't that big of an issue for me.
Q: Can medications help control it?
A: Yes, but they have annoying side-effects, such as lathargy and weight gain.
This is defintly true in my experience, it's why I no longer take Paxil.
It's like, i love to make sure all my music on my iTunes has the correct album artwork...
That's not a definite symptom of aspergers is it? I did the same.
That's not a definite symptom of aspergers is it? I did the same.
No, that's OCD but it's pretty common for people with Aspergers to have OCD, even if it's minor.
Not at all! Of course, paying attention to subjects that I find boring is a pain, but you get used to it.
I mean fucking really? Asperger's syndrome is the fucking most over diagnosed ailment ever. I can't believe that people think you have a mental disorder when it DOESN'T affect or interrupt your daily life.
Sarcasm is a really hard concept because it's hard to understand body-language (which sarcasm and non-literal things rely on) for people with Aspergers.
I can get sarcasm if people have a snarky/smartass tone to their voice. If they just use sarcasm in a more common tone of voice, I think they're being serious.
Do you ever answer rhetorical questions? I know one kid that does that EVERY TIME.
Do you ever answer rhetorical questions? I know one kid that does that EVERY TIME.
Sometimes, and I realize that I shouldn't have after I did.
People who use meds for aspergers are living life in easy mode
Are people with Asperger's likely to have some form of physical defect as well?
Why? Because people like giving a name to everything, we even give a name to places that don't exist.

this isn't from personal experience, I just thought that people with aspergers get attached to their personal belongings
OP, you are NOT autistic, you're a socially retarded nerd. I went to school with a kid guaranteed to have Asperger's syndrome, a list of daily activities included:
- Obsessing completely over airplanes, you said anything to the kid and he'd somehow link it to airplanes.
- This kid would lean on people when he was talking to them, he had the most funking rank b-o and breath ever. He would LITERALLY BE LEANING ON YOU whilst talking to anyone.
- He got a little creepy with a teacher's daughter once; the daughter dropped off lunch to her mother (the teacher) one day. The kid decided to take a bathroom pass and follow her as she was walking to her car watching her from inside the school. The daughter had told the teacher about it and the teacher let the secret slip to a few kids in the class.
- He had no idea what social norms where whatsoever, he would run down hallways yelling randomly to a friend at the other end, all whilst knocking people over, shoving people out of his way, and 70% of the time would end up tripping himself.
- He would have a schedule of eating at least 6 snacks/meals throughout the school day.
- Other than the daughter-following incident, the kid showed absolutely no interest in women.
- He would just get up in the middle of class and start walking around while the teacher was talking, this usually was a precursor to his snacktime.
- During lunch, he would sit in his minivan and watch Disney movies on the TV.
- He'd bump into people with his minivan and just look at them then drive away.
That kid has asperger's, you do not OP.

Only thing that showed was that he was lookin at facebook on his phone and he asked me what his best friends status meant because he can't read emotions.

Stop posting here. You don't know what you're talking about.
I had intro to computers class (fucking shit class btw DIS IS HAOW U USE OFFICE) and this girl next to me was autistic, her thing was horses (lol horsedick) and shit so while the teacher would be explaining how to join databases and complicated shit like that in office she would be looking up pictures of horses on google images. Then when it actually came time to work id notice she would copy off me exactly, so i'd purposely screw everything up, then save it and act like I was finished, she turned her assignment in. The teacher handed her paper back and said she failed the assignment, so she threw a fucking chair across the room, hit and old crt monitor and broke it, and started screaming all this shit, she was basically throwing a temper tantrum and shit.

There was a very heavy set black girl in my computer class (hurr this is how u use powerPOint and TYPE) who didn't do any of the work, and when she did it was terrible.
She probably had autism or aspergers.
Every day she would go to this black musician Chris Brown's website and play the music and we all shouted at her to stop it.
