No problem, I'm sorry if I'm coming across as flippant or even rude. This subject really interests me and in England it isn't diagnosed as much as in America. It may be because the healthcare systems are different, but it just surprises me how many people say they have it and then list symptoms that sound completely normal.
I guess you really have to sit down with the person face-to-face then. It's hard on the Internet.

Isn't it hard for people with aspergers to talk face to face?
Isn't it hard for people with aspergers to talk face to face?
Hence rather talk on the internet than face-to-face [via skype or watnot]. And the internet is proving to be just as hard.
I need to go to bed.
I might be able to answer a few...
I might be able to answer a few...
]Do you have it, if so what are your specific symptoms
Well, I don't speak about it much, but yes.
I used to have it when I was little and now I've learned very well to combat it.
Around 6-8 I was diagnosed by a few doctors, then I was really creative but lacked any social skill,
I had obsessions with houses, airplanes, cars, clocks fans etc... I was distracted easily from anything I didn't want to do with something I wanted to do.
I'll add more here later
The only symptom I really show is the lack of eye contact with anyone, I force myself to do when I have to.
Sometimes I panic easily in simple situations.
It's hard to start conversations with people I haven't known for a long time.
Sometimes It's hard to find the right words in situations and I correct myself repeatedly (doesn't happen often)
There is a good side to this though.
I am extremely creative, I picked up guitar and bass 3 years ago and have gotten really good at it.
I used to create lego cities back when I was 10-13 and other detailed things like replica weapons, and at one point a working crossbow made out of legos.
I worked with simple electronic circuts, picked up great reading and math skills when I was little.
I could tell you basically anything about the WWII, Guns or Guitars.
I was on medication when I was little but it made me feel sick, other than that, there has been virtually no treatment and otherwise, no one has picked up on it in my daily life.
I consider myself lucky.

Once again, forgive me for sounding ignorant/flippant, but those all sound like regular things. Being distracted whilst doing something you don't want to do just sounds like logic. Finding it hard to start conversations with people you haven't seen in a long time also sounds normal, it's just life.

They actually aren't that regular, if you go out in sit on a bench, you see very few of those symptoms in an average person.
How relevant is this video to aspergers and autism?

You wouldn't see those things happening from on a bench. You would only get a 10 seconds view into their life.
I understand what you're saying, you're trying to say that it isn't a mental illness if it doesn't affect your everyday life, well Medical Science says it can be a mental illness if it doesn't. You're a fucking idiot who wants to start arguments and that's your only goal in life.
Don't feed the troll! (Ooh-wooAAh ooh wah-wah.)
Don't feed him!
He just wants to make you ma-had,
He wants to start an internet jihad,
Maybe take a dump in his hat.
Don't feed the troll (Ooooohoooowoooaaaaah)

Though i have to say i do exhibit some of the comments in this thread, although my social skill is improving day by day. I have invented an entire mythos of game ideas in my head, and i act them out, playing every character by myself. And painting warhammer 40k engrosses me so much i forget the world around me.
Maybe i'm just weird.
[editline]26th July 2011[/editline]
Now i'm not attention whoring or trying to get in with the crowd or be edgy but i exhibit the steryotyped movement thing. i always imitate the walk of a Civil Protection unit unconciously, and always run like the T1000 in Terminator 2. even unconciously.
and always run like the T1000 in Terminator 2. even unconciously.
Being able to run while unconscious is a gift. Use it wisely.
Cracked put up this article today. Quite relevant.

Does it hurt?

I understand, the only way I can put it is that these symptoms are worse than usual.
And yes, just because you have 1 or 2 doesn't mean you have this condition but with a combination of signs and symptoms, you know something is up.
Does it hurt?
Depends.
I have Aspergers too, but I only recently figured that out because I only recently got a decent therapist and doctor.
Hurrrr
Also, regarding the cracked article, I usually don't have a problem with my syndrome except my small social awkwardness, [because I feel its normal to most people on the internet] but my mom tries to convince me that I eat too much because of my medicine, and it's not my fault, but goddamnit, I wanna believe its my fault so I can control it.
Do you like to take evening strolls through the park?
HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU CANCER IS NOT AN ILLNESS, IT HAS TO AFFECT YOU IN YOUR DAILY LIFE
Asperger's doesn't have any health problems at all. It's got no negative health effects. It's all social awkwardness and different thought patterns.
HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU CANCER IS NOT AN ILLNESS, IT HAS TO AFFECT YOU IN YOUR DAILY LIFE
I was always told that Cancer is in you anyway and is only triggered into something malignant...
There was a very heavy set black girl in my computer class (hurr this is how u use powerPOint and TYPE) who didn't do any of the work, and when she did it was terrible.
She probably had autism or aspergers.
Every day she would go to this black musician Chris Brown's website and play the music and we all shouted at her to stop it.
Do you live in a city? That sounds like an average day on the southside of Syracuse with a black woman.

Just make sure you get PLENTY of exercise so that all the food you eat doesn't make you fat. You can be socially awkward all you want with big bulging muscles, and nobody will be the wiser. ^^
Haha oh man I remember when I was diagnosed with aspergers when I was a kid
The guy who diagnosed me looked like Jamie from Mythbusters and then they gave me a book to read about aspergers symptoms that I really didn't care about
Oh and at some point a doctor had me play video games with my mind but that was long before

We think my little cousin has this. He's 4 now, how early can you detect Aspergers? And what are some early signs?

Not liking to be touched and being off in his own world maybe.
He makes up his own words instead of using real words and he just thinks they're real words. He has his own language. Is that something or is he just a badass?

That's probably just something stupid that little kids do. You shouldn't worry about that. or maybe. I dunno. i'm not a doctor. Try giving him Zoloft.
