If you have no significant interest in anything of any kind, then it's total bullshit.
The people I know with aspergers have a huge interest in something or other, be it trains or art.
I personally have a ridiculously huge interest in music, and I have a slightly mild case of aspergers.
There are many cases of people with Aspergers not having subjects they fixate on. Don't spread misinformation.
Hm... now, I don't really like to bring up other people, but I guess it's worth mentioning. My girlfriend has Asperger's. If Maverick still browses this thread, this is the partial reason of why it is taking so long. But the point is, while there are some negative sides to this, there are also positive ones. For one, she tries her best to go beyond the social limitation imposed by this. She works as a volunteer at a number of places, mainly to have more social contact. She can be extremely cute and innocent at times, which I really like. Although she sometimes is unable to answer some things even to herself, at least I know that she is open to me and others, as much as it is possible for her to do. I really have to thank her to make my life much more enjoyable in many ways. :unsmith:
Oh, and for the sake of subjects, she loves Broadway and anything by Jim Henson.
That's such a lovely thing. One thing to note is that Aspergers in women is less common than in men. So you got a gem there.
Do your subjects of interest change over time, or do they remain the same?
Everyone has subjects of interest...

yeah but autismal kids are all like devoted to hell with them.

Yes, that's the sort of subject I was referring to.
I also have diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome under a year ago.
It is not that bad neurological disorder, even though it will cause some issues in some situations.
I am sympathetic and understanding person, but I can't show visible empathy towards my family, but usually I do when I'm with my friends and other people.
It's also sometimes difficult to say things like "I'm sorry." to someone who you know well.
I also tend to get pissed off if I get interrupted when I'm busy or I'm concentrating on something.
About "I don't want you to touch me." - thing, I like touching, hugging etc. and it's always nice to get touched... :v:

Reading your post leads me to diagnose that my friend Ruth has Asberger's. Everybody agrees that she's not 100% quite right, and while she's cute and innocent and works at Oxfam, she still has a childlike mentality and definitely has her 'subjects'. Thanks for the post.

I hope you're joking.
Do your subjects of interest change over time, or do they remain the same?
It's been the same for the past decade and a half. I would have to say that there is always exceptions, maybe a person who's been interested in everything all throughout his life and has Aspergers. Another thing to note is that it's common for people with Aspergers to have a specialty (like 90%), not required at all.
Everyone has subjects of interest...
Yes, but people with Aspergers (such as myself) take it to the extreme and sometimes outright refuse to acknowledge the outside world all together besides their particular subject.

Cool. It took me years before I even let my mom hug me, sadly. I also hate it when I'm poked, I once punched a guy behind me who kept jabbing me with his index finger.

She may not have it, so try not to bring it up to her without some serious research first.
Also, it's Aspergers, not Asbergers (that sounds like a molded-over burger).

Why? He seems like he truly feels this way, uninformed as it is. While you seem like you're trolling this thread.

At exactly 22:35 GMT-06:00 on 7/9/2011 I have rigged my Gecko's tank to fill with water. Time is ticking, you only have 2 hours and 21 minutes. Go! Go now! HIS LIFE DEPENDS ON YOU!

You can't just diagnose someone with autism. Even if you know them and they display "symptoms".
You can't just diagnose someone with autism. Even if you know them and they display "symptoms".
Thank you for explaining your post. You would seem less like an asshole if you put why you're saying it with the post displaying your disagreement.
Also, yes, you're right. You cannot 'diagnose' somebody just by watching them alone, it takes a very trained individual in the subject to truly tell.
I have 4 cousins with Aspergers, but I wasn't diagnosed with it. Which is weird, because as a kid I was extremely anti-social, and I was almost put into an institution when I was 7, because I was extremely depressed and violent, and a "danger to myself and others". Instead, they put me on Fluvoxamine and I've been on that since then. I'm 17 now. As time progressed my moodswings, social behavior, and violence/anger decreased dramatically, as well as getting therapy and going to a correctional school in grade 4 and 5. And yes, I like minecraft. Coincidence?
I don't know if I have aspergers or just depression and social anxiety disorder. But I do exhibit quite a few of the symptoms. I have intense fixation on one subject, I'm socially awkward, but I don't really like being alone. It's just that most of the time I am due to the constant barrage of panic attacks when I'm in social situations. I have this fear of losing control of my body in public... and like everyone witnessing it... I don't know, it's weird.
Do you remember stuff no one else can? I was diagnosed at age 5 by four different doctors 3 in different cities, and the last one somewhere in Germany. I remember being born, and I see thing in pictures, do you?

Sounds more like photographic memory, not Aspergers.

You remember being born? No. Your brain at that point is still developing cognitive function and wouldn't be able to do that.
Nobody in the history of science has been successfully diagnosed with photographic memory. That said, I remember a shitload of stuff from god knows how long ago. Not photographic, but I remember a lot of things and events that others have already forgotten.

You can't remember being born. You probably fabricated a memory of your birth.
You actually can remember being born, but you need to activate that memory with pictures and stories, and you would be able to remember. I read that somewhere.
Anyway, fuck it, i just asked my mom and dad and i'm ok with it.
Question to Aspergers dude: Can you join in military? Since this dude here somewhere couldn't fucking scuba dive.

I don't think they'll let us in because it's a form of disability, such as having Asthma is a disability in terms of speaking.
why do all spergs wear fedoras
