10 pounds a month, 500 texts, unlimited virgin to virgin minutes, 100 minutes and it came with a FREE Nokia e63 (A pretty high end decent smart phone) [img_thumb]http://www.cameraphonesplaza.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/nokia-e632.jpg[/img_thumb] Its like a blackberry, but its not a pile of shit. edit: I text a fuckton, its easier
You call blackberry shit, and call the e63 high end? e63 320x240 screen 369MHz cpu 128mb ram 110 storage ...yah, high end all right. Fuck blackberry though. I may be a huge RIM hater(funny since I live in kitchener) but that's quite hypocritical. [editline]10th January 2011[/editline]
My mistake. It's sixty.
That would make a lot more sense :P
If you don't have a job where this sort of connectivity is required, you don't need anything more than a phone that calls and texts. You certainly don't need anything more than that if you're in highschool.
I hate all this obsessing over phones society has been doing, and how people text more than talk. Its getting ridiculous.
Texting is more cost effective. $5 unlimited texting VS a minimum 0.40 cents a minute. Granted on prepaid calling isn't nearly as expensive.
ITT: Facepunch users with no real friends to talk/text to agree that cellphones are stupid. :colbert:
Did you even bother to read through the whole thread? It's more about how much of a rip off phone plans are (in North America).

Granted I check techspot/HoFo every 10min so it's probably just me.

[editline]10th January 2011[/editline] That would make a lot more sense :P
High end as in its the "high end" e72 minus some features and a slightly worse camera I will edit it to "A pretty decent" It works amazingly, it has a normal headphone jack (I hate special phone headphone ports) It takes nice pictures, the OS responds fast, it has never once frozen on me It can have third party apps installed on it, it comes with lots of space, its customizable to shit When you hold down spacebar at the main menu it turns into a torch via the camera flash (so usefull, I feel lost using other phones without it) best of all, it plays the freeware version of DOOM. I would reccomend it to anybody. EDIT: Oh fuck, Hi pageking.
Did you even bother to read through the whole thread? It's more about how much of a rip off phone plans are (in North America).
And the problem is unless everyone cancels their plans they wont get cheaper, because companies know people will pay it.

Like those stupid square headphone ports some phones have? I effing hate those!
You call blackberry shit, and call the e63 high end? e63 320x240 screen 369MHz cpu 128mb ram 110 storage
It's called bandwagoning.
It's your own fault really. No need to get a new phone that often, I still have mine from '04. I barely use it, because there's no reason to outside of emergencies, you have everyone on msn (or facebook if you're into that stuff), so why text? There's also no reason for internet on the phones, as you might as well wait till you're home. Thus I barely have any costs.
I remember when I started high school I loved having data. Granted I check techspot/HoFo every 10min so it's probably just me.
Yes, you loved having it, but you didn't need it.
It's called bandwagoning.
Are apple haters considered bandwagoners here? [editline]10th January 2011[/editline]
Yes, you loved having it, but you didn't need it.
If you wanna get technical nobody really needs a smartphone if they're in high school. It's simply considered "trendy" and people feel left out if they don't have one. Though with the amount people use and especially people who use them for work they're definitely becoming like a necessity.
Did you even bother to read through the whole thread? It's more about how much of a rip off phone plans are (in North America).
Not if you have a job of your own instead of having your parents pay them for you.
It's called bandwagoning.
Its bandwagoning mostly, but I tried using my mums blackberry, it was horrible, and then used my other friends blackberrys (all 3 different) and they just didnt feel worth the price at all
I have to pay 8 € to write unlimited text messages, although phoning is charged seperately. So I try to avoid to call and only write messages. Pretty nifty.
Its bandwagoning mostly, but I tried using my mums blackberry, it was horrible, and then used my other friends blackberrys (all 3 different) and they just didnt feel worth the price at all
I totally agree. The torch no contract is $599. It has a 624mhz cpu. That alone makes it a ripoff so I don't even need to go into detail about the low res screen and lack of ram. It wouldn't be so bad, but it's a $600 PHONE!
sprint evo 4g i dont even have 4g where i live but get charged an extra 10$, ain't so bad though. it's like 60$ a month for unlimited talk/text/web here
The UK are definetly better off than most other countries. We can get 300 mins, 1000 texts and 1 GB internet for around £20 a month with a free phone.

Its official. We Americans get gang raped by phone companies.
ITT: People think that their country/region has the same phone companies and prices as everyone else in the world.
Saw you posted about UK and Europe deals, and I thought I'd post what I think sums it up for me: Basically, it's a rip-off and not one at the same time. Basically, 3G is a load of fucking bullshit on T-Mobile, sure you can go on Blackberry Messenger (I have a Blackberry, its the msn for the BB's.) And that works perfectly fine. But browsing internet, woaaah no. T-Mobile is fucking shit for that. On the other hand, the deal is good, 300 Minutes, and unlimited texts and internet, and e-mail, for £25 a month, $17-20? So yeah. Overall 7/10.
every time I get a phone I try to get the cheapest one available: I need only text and phone, yet it gets harder to find these phones every year
PAYG... If i top up £10 I get the £10 credit + unlimited texts for a month... If i top up £15 I get unlimited texts AND internet for a month AND i get to keep the £15 credit for calls + you get to play that gold O2 surprises game and get chances to win stuff. Pretty good here.
How do you think I feel; I have ATT. :( I use data, texting, etc a lot though as it is useful and fun. (the data) I can't wait to switch to Sprint so I can use apk files not supported on the market and also have unlimited data and still save money. Fookin' ATT and their 2 gigs.
I pay £10 a month for my phone. Which I can afford easily. No one uses the internet on phones. It so slow and shite anyway.
I have a phone which I don't use.
I'm on a sim only contract. I get 300 mins and 2GB of data allowance each month for £10. Not too bad I guess seen as how I'm constantly on the internet and make the occasional phone call.

Granted it'd have unlimited text but that's only like $5 for you guys.
thats because you don't have a social life but hey atleast youre saving $30
Unlike you, I talk to people in person. Anyways, I only use my cell phone for travel. And when I do use the phone, I usually use my home phone or instant messaging.
I get 100 minutes for $10 with my prepaid, you're getting ripped off.
The only reason why I'm using Verizon is because all other carriers get little or no signal where I live. Out of curiosity what is you carrier, anyways?
