i've only got 1 lens, so i'm keen to buy another for those situations where a 10-20mm just is the wrong perspective i'm keen on a 24-70 Worth getting the Canon? or will be the Sigma suffice? Or is there another recommendation somebody could provide
I've heard of Tamron being damn good, and sometimes outclassing Sigma.
Same situation here. Though I still don't post much because I just feel like everyone else is so much more advanced, I "don't want to get in the way", so to speak (though saying that makes me sound rather like an attention whore). Some of the shots on here (lots actually) just make my day. It's unexplainable and the fact that everyone has a friendly connection is great. A lot better than ive seen on other forums (such as the one in question a few pages back).
Don't be shy. Post away. You'll receive a lot of constructive criticism or just plain out praise.

The more people the contribute the more diverse the photos will become. Everybody has their own way of viewing a situation and most people will photograph it in a different way.
[editline]8th December 2010[/editline] Codenamecueball, you're a huge gearnut.
how? because I don't like cameras I find impossible to use?

They aren't exactly shit, but it does change it from being wide-normal to normal telephoto. It's really only a few mm shifted up from a kit lens.
who is Samuel Norris on flickr? I'm fairly sure that they're from Facepunch, I'm just not good at lining up flickr names and facepunch names.
I think it's Sajeno.
Hey guys. I've just created a Flickr account... But I don't know how to post images I have there into these forums... Can anyone tell me how?

I don't think I overdo it...
They look really nice. Is it just me, or does Flickr very subtly rape the sharpness of the photos you upload? [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] Not posted these in a long time, and they are my best. Hey guys can anyone help me out? Got abit of money from my grampa for xmas but he want's me to spend it on something tangible rather than it being squandered (which is fair enough) Was looking at this filter set (or something similar) http://www.jessops.com/online.store/products/71537/show.html But I don't want graduated filters, I was looking for ND filters that are a good few stops, so I can take pictures like this Anyone help me out with what i'm looking for. I'm willing to pay around £100-150, also will they fit a 72mm lens, I imagine so with an adapter but I just want to make sure.
Would it be worth getting a 28mm f1.8 if I already have a 50mm f1.8? Do agrees mean yes? or do agrees mean "I also want to know the answer to this question"?
Oh wow. A friend(girl) of my girlfriend tweeted today about how she still didn't know how to film with her new Canon 1000D. Mind you, she already had it for a month. My girlfriend replied by saying there wasn't a video function(I told her) and got a reply back saying 'Don't be silly, it's why I bought it in the first place' I was amazed about her stupidity
They aren't exactly shit, but it does change it from being wide-normal to normal telephoto. It's really only a few mm shifted up from a kit lens.
I think that it's stupid to pay for the full-frame performance on 1.6x cameras, 17-55mm f/2.8 has a lot more sensible focal lenght. IMHO the whole purpose of expensive zooms is that you don't have to change lenses so often. Pros have a ultrawide-semiwide zoom, and a semitelephoto-telephoto zoom, but they quite often have two cameras too... http://cgi.ebay.com/72mm-Adapter-Colour-Filter-Holder-Cokin-P-series-/350244280540?pt=Lens_Accessories&hash=item518c2f98dc http://cgi.ebay.com/ND8-Filter-Cokin-P-Series-Neutral-Density-ND-8-NEW-/270374825001?pt=Camera_Filters&hash=item3ef3986c29 Filter holder and a regular ND8 for less than £10 including shipping? Not bad I think. Especially when you can reuse the holder for quality filters, cheap holder doesn't really affect the image quality. Remember that you can get step-up rings, so get the filter holder in the biggest filter size, and then just use the rings so you can use the filters in every lens you own. Image quality will naturally suffer a bit from cheapo plexiglass solutions, but if you are not peeping at 1:1 for every detail (and in pictures like that you probably won't) I think they would be more than sufficient for regular usage. And after all, you can get the more expensive filters if you feel like you will use them a lot. ND8 let's 12.5% of the light through, so you can stack few of them if you want really long shutter times.
oh yeah and here's a photo from today Was just walking the dogs. Had a picture I thought was gonna be nice, but turned out it was out of focus which ruined it.
Can someone recommend me a lens to get with the 550D? It'll probably be my only lens for a month or two, so I'd like it to be fairly decent.
EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 alright-ish build quality; image quality apparently on par with L series zooms [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] also aperture is nice and big [editline]8th December 2010[/editline] also aperture is nice and big
I attempted at taking sports pictures for my yearbook class with my camera (not the best, mind you) heres one of my favorite Cheerleader shots I took. (FACEBOOK QUALITY BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TIME TO UPLOAD TO BETTER SITE) I'm still learning so... yeah. It was more of a test on my understanding of shutter speed. I wish I could have gotten a better shot of a clear football fied but the Away team was on the other side bull shitting and nobody was allowed to stand on the track because Cross Country was using it along with the cheerleaders.
Oh god, I have to shoot on a fuji s1500 for a protest incase you don't know, it represents everything I hate about cameras
protest about the protest and shoot with a manly dslr like you dont give a fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
Why do you have to shoot with that camera? It'll be fine if you just have to document it and not take anything remotely artistic.
Why do you have to shoot with that camera?
He's badass.
Just shoot on your SLR and tell them you used the Fuji.
I have no DSLR IM SORRY GUYS, IM SORRY [editline]8th December 2010[/editline]
Why do you have to shoot with that camera?
I had some photos I took today with it. It focuses slower than a fucking £50 sony point and shoot.
Something is better than nothing haha. Shoot with your superior P&S? Doesn't seem too bad :gbsmith:
