This one is lovely.
At first I thought it was a tree against the sky, but looking closer, the whole background is made of humble autumnal trees.
I love photographs that deceive you in the beginning.
Nice shot.
Does the wireless trigger for the Nikon D40 work in the dark? I tried taking some pictures of stars, But nothing happened.

What? You absolutely don't need a flash to take pictures of stars. In that case you need a long exposure and an aperture around f/10 to get the sharpest picture.
Oh god, I need to scrape £80 together for a 50mm 1.8. All my indoor shots are blurry, what do?

Where did he say anything about a flash?
I assume he's meaning the wireless shutter trigger.
And I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work in the dark.
Make sure you're directing it towards the sensor, and that nothing is obstructing it.
(Don't know where the sensor is on the Nikon D40, but on most Canons it's on the front of the right grip, below the shutter button)

That's probably it.
Yeah just looked at a picture of it.
The black circle below the shutter button is the sensor AFAIK.
(Unless I'm very wrong)

1.8 is made of plastic and therefore is the same low quality as kit 18-55's
on the topic of Christmas and speedlights

Sorry. I misunderstood. I thought he talked about a wireless flash. I'm a bad reader sometimes.

More like worse.
From what I've heard, the build quality is horrid.
But the glass is good.
As long as you don't throw your camera around the 1.8 is fine. Brilliant sharpness and pretty damn fast.
Really enjoying the weather and my new 50mm f/1.8 lens.

My kit lens seems sturdy enough, thank you very much. I'd need to try out the 1.8 first though

Yes what I meant was that the 1.8 probably is worse.

The one word I despise in the photography world.
Fucking professor messing with my head.
It's definitely, interesting. Not a fan of the sky though.

as rieda1589 said it's fine as long as you don't throw around your camera.
Actually I did drop my camera once with the lens on and it sort of bent... I fixed it by force though so it's all good.

I wasn't saying it was a problem.
Not the slightest bit. :colbert:
No but seriously congrats on the 580. :buddy: Get a wireless trigger for it.
Thanks! What kind of wireless trigger do you all recommend? Pocket Wizards are too damn expensive.

Focus the lens or get a steady hand.
I can take indoor shots hand held at 1/10, and they look fine.

I doubt they look fine at 100%.
Then again, nobody said this dude needs anything but show off his pictures resized online.
1/10 should be fine unless you do prints.
Also Roll_Program, do you have a lens / body with image stabilizer?

No, just a well trained hand.

Sounds sketchy but if you google it, they seem to be the general consensus as the go-to pocketwizard compromise.
I love mine :D

Does it work with the T1i/500D?
This looks like the same thing but slightly less expensive.
