It's also a good idea to set your camera to A or S, standing for aperture and shutterspeed. If you would set it to A, you would have to control the aperture while the camera controls everything else like shutterspeed etc. Same goes with S but instead of controlling the aperture, you now only control the shutterspeed. It's pretty useful to see how the camera reacts to the aperture or shutterspeed you set it to.
Basically, its getting the little line to go to the center of meter. That's why manual isn't so hard.
[IMG_thumb]http://i370.photobucket.com/albums/oo146/GenKrash/DSC_0011.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Meh?
I can't say I am the best critic but I think seeing the steering wheel in the shot distracts you from the dials and they're meant to be the subject of the photo. Otherwise it's quite a neat shot, where were you when you took it? Do you fly or was it at some air show/etc.?
You got some nice shots going there Emz, keep it up! And bengley, the tram shot is pretty cool, just too bad it's a bit blurry
Train and tram pics incoming. I was following the subject of the photograph which in these cases happened to be a tram and a train. I did it with a couple of cars too but they weren't very interesting shots. I do like the effect this type of picture gives. ~25mph ~100mph (hence the blur on the train) Also more funky zoom effect
these are nice but you came to croydon voluntarily? what is wrong with you where is the third place
I am filled to the brim with silent rage right now. I was taking some photos at Chiswick Business Park when I had the amazing luck for a heron to land a metre away from me and start fishing. Before I have a chance to get snapping a douche security guard comes asking me for a permit (nowhere did it say I needed one) and scares off the heron. I ask how much a permit is and it turns out it's free, but I can't take photos until Monday. WHAT IS THE POINT OF A PERMIT IF IT IS FREE!? Also mating dragonflies are sons of bitches to photograph in focus.
[img_thumb]http://th03.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/i/2010/177/6/2/Break_Of_Dawn_by_Cussypat.jpg[/img_thumb] C&C would be appreciated.
Cussypat ehh? I prefer Tairy Hesticles. It's the standard Picture of the clouds at sunset. If you did any post work on it you did it right and kept it minimal. I would try maybe framing it so the left and right sides are equally balance. at the moment the right side is very dark and heavy with nothing really to balance it out on the left. This shot here is still framed a bit off but I tookerized it while driving. I tried to keep a mass to the left and right to vignette the viewer into the sunset and light poll. This sunset had a nice even spread going as far as cloud cover which made composition easy
I'm guessing if I want to use a slow shutter speed (1 second and up) in daylight, I'd need a filter of some sort? I thought if I shot in RAW I could edit it later but alas. :(
Just got back from amsterdam, took my camera but didn't take many pictures. Got really annoyed when I got home and realized they weren't shot in RAW. I wasn't really aiming to take any pictures anyway, so i'm happy with a few of them. Only took my camera to take pictures of friends anyway. And you can edit them with photoshop or lightroom and other programs but I've only used those two.
Naw, way too much exposure for PS/Bridge to be able to reduce it.
close up your aperture and turn down your ISO to its limit? why are you doing long exposures in the day anyways? [editline]1:11[/editline] put sunglasses on your camera.
That is one cool camera. :v: Some more pictures from when I went out yesterday: (Just a closer shot of the water from that bridge, but it looks pretty to me.)
these are nice but you came to croydon voluntarily? what is wrong with you where is the third place
Went to croydon because there's a new skyscraper going up which me and a friend might be doing some Urbex on soon. We were just investigating it. Third one is near Thornton Heath.

I love the colors and the angle. :) Today I went out to take some photos, but I suck. I don't know how to improve though, any recommendations ? (Maybe some books about how to find a good "photo".) I don't think they suck personally - the bike one would be great if the cyclist was fully in focus and the cat one is cute albeit a bit dark. :) I think the best way to probably do it is take photos of as much as you can and then pick out the one that is best later on your computer. I have started going out every once in a while just to find something of interest to photograph though sometimes they come out a complete disaster. :v: I think it is just trial and error until you get a sixth sense about what would look good as a picture. At least that is what my entire 4 days of almost none stop photography has taught me any way. When I mean none stop I go a good few hours every day practising.
Thanks! Seeing as summer holidays are coming up soon for me I guess I got a lot of time to go out and take photos. :)
Just a few shots I grabbed yesterday.....experimenting with monochrome and macro photography:
Went to croydon because there's a new skyscraper going up which me and a friend might be doing some Urbex on soon. We were just investigating it.
interesting. I took that from outside looking into the cockpit. I dont have a pilots license but i can fly, sort of.
I love the panorama! Very nice. phantom87: The snail shot is cute. :3:
Thanks! Heres another right at the peak of sunset, might be a little too dark though. I hope you don't mind me messing about with it in Photoshop. Note I am not good seeming as I don't really use Photoshop much only for small tasks. I tried to adjust the levels and colour channels a little to try and emphasize that gorgeous sky a bit more and sharpen it slightly. Not sure I really succeeded though in what I wanted to do. It probably just looks like I made it all more orange but I did actually alter the sky and the ground with different things. I probably did it the long way or something. :saddowns:
Testing the lighting in my new room, seems pretty nice. And I'm probably doing senior pictures for the next school year. Can't wait. [editline]03:38AM[/editline] Bonus shot. The only thing I hate about the photo is that there's a car to the far left that sort of ruins the shot for me, if only it was in front of the old man or something like that.
