I don't like the first picture (long exposure highway). Too shaky over the time of the exposure, and if it was perfectly still it would blend into the background amidst a lot of long exposure highways. If you found a creative way to move the camera smooth and evenly, you might find some interesting effects. the orange in the second picture is overbearing and obvious. Don't desaturate the whole picture then repaint it, work with the pre-existing colors. As for the branch, I think you made the overall picture dull in the editing, despite making the stick stand out more.
walked in my bathroom today and saw this nice light [img_thumb]http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/2102/dsc0411g.jpg[/img_thumb]
That looks like a render, a damn pretty one. You must have funky windows in your bathroom.
The shakiness happened by pure accident, as it was my first time doing any sort of long exposure or night time shot. As for the conker one, this is without the orange. [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/conker_in_a_shell.jpg[/img_thumb] The stick one, I removed the dullness but added a bit of contrast (something I'm pretty sure is commonplace but yeah). [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/stick_in_a_fence.jpg[/img_thumb] I'm also looking for tips regarding image composition and framing. I know of the rule of thirds but after that it's not much. Also, looking for tips for when it comes to photoshop/editing images, as I've been lead to believe that the more you do to an image the better. That needs changing.
When it comes to editing images, I wouldn't necessarily say that more is better because you can get carried away easily and go overboard on editing, or even forget what you want to do BUT you may just want to experiment. For me I do the odd adjustment or colour change for the sake of tone mainly, I tended to make things look cold/colder. I always experiment on each image to see what works best, trial and error is your friend if you have the time. For framing, I vaguely follow the rule of thirds but more depend on does it look to me like an interesting photo as a whole. I take different shots at different angles and decide. EXPERIMENT!

Alot of people insinuate that i'm a bad photographer because i cant live without photoshop, and that's ofcourse sad to hear, but I dont agree. My friend Mikkel, he takes the most badass analog photos and he really knows how to catch the right moments. Theyre gritty, dirty and tabu-like. Sorry, these are all generic shots.. I think this one had potential, but was destroyed by having too much.. sticks in it. Your opinion may differ. Too blurry, my sister shot the picture, that's my excuse. Generic 2.0 Generic 2.1 (It had sticks and a whole bunch of footprints on it so I edited them out) Generic 2.2

I'm also reminded of stuff like this: http://www.petapixel.com/2009/12/04/4-creative-projects-that-bend-the-reality-of-street-scenes/ stuff not at all possible with the "traditional" idea of what photography is, with all the waiting and whatnot for the perfect shot. that kind of photography is incredibly respectable, but that doesn't make Logue's work any less impressive
[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/IMG_7944.JPG[/img_thumb] Generic 2.2
I really like that one!
anyone in the uk travel long distance on train much? there is a museum i want to visit and the trains pass through london so i thought i might as well visit london while im at it, not been for years, only problem is the monster train fairs £175 is fucking ridiculous it would probably cost £20 on a coach but entail sitting next to some sweaty cunt for 8+ hours. there has to be a way to get a return train ticket at a reasonable cost , but i usually dont travel outside greater manchester where i have a concessional pass for public transport so i dont know where to look for cheap tickets

Holy fucking yes, I'm going to london with my class in a few months. It's going to be the first time I bring my camera outside Denmark :v:
Holy fucking yes, I'm going to london with my class in a few months. It's going to be the first time I bring my camera outside Denmark :v:
Hand luggage it if it's a worthwhile camera.
hard to tell with flickr low resolution but you should work on focusing, it looks like you only have her legs or the concrete in focus
always focus on the eyes (unless your trying to do something specific)
Yeah it was getting dark, and the autofocus was playing up.
trainline have a open return (within a month) for about £90 not too bad and i should be able to get another 1/3 off if i apply for a disabled persons rail card, they cost almost as much as i would save though and probably take forever to be processed. [editline]6th January 2011[/editline] you can change the af point, tbh i cant remember how off the top of my head its not something i have needed to do often [editline]6th January 2011[/editline] i think if af is being wonky its probably faster to use liveview, its quite easy to alter where it focuses and you also have face detection
I wanted to do a 365 for this year but I fucking missed day 3 :saddowns: So here's day 5.
Hand luggage it if it's a worthwhile camera.
That was my plan. I love taking pictures of my friends, plus I've always wanted to take some nice cloud photos.
If you're taking HDR, try shooting the separate frames as closely together as possible. Probably just my camera being confused at the lens i'm using and such.

But if you're between 16 and 25 then get a Young Person's Railcard. A third off the rail fare can make a big difference and it lasts for an entire year.
you still have the beep enabled, doesnt that just annoy you? there is a icon when its focused in the viewfinder. i dont really agree with what you said about photography being a cheap hobby a couple of pages back, true the cost of entry is low and you dont have to unpgrade above entry level but everything above full frame (digital back, medium format) is really expensive even some point and shoots cost twice what a 550D does
