I tried some new white balance settings, and used a slower shutter speed in a few of these.
I (...) used a slower shutter speed in a few of these.
The fire shot was a good candidate for a slower shutter but you're implying that you did it on others. Any reason why? The others don't show any motion and are even somewhat blurry, possibly because of the slower shutter.
I always thought having the good ol' kit lens was going to be sufficient but now more than ever I wish I had a 50mm prime, preferably a 1.4. Mine right now only opens up to 3.5 so I am limited by that immensely. That and something like a 300mm would be awesome.. =(
after using a film camera for 2 months with only focus, zoom, aperture and shutter speed to worry about using a 7D for a day feels so complex and made me realise how much I love film. for my style of street photography I need a camera that in less than 10 seconds I can have a shot together, I don't feel like I have that power with the 7D versus my pentax film camera. Another thing that I noticed is that I went into the habit of taking every single posible photo, with MOST being total shit. By caring about what's worth a shot it means that looking back 1 in every 2 or 3 shots is decent, with 1 out of 6 or 7 being great, you don't get those ratios shooting digital (well I don't anyway).
Out of 16,000 shots on my 5d2, I've been able to pull out 82 (rounding up to 100 for the others I liked) that were acceptable for my 365 project. That's 1 out of 160. This is from all the micro adjustments I make when I'm shooting, and sometimes I just don't think at all. But let me put it this way. What If I had thought about and planned all those 16,000 shots, the same way you do with your film? The potential is very high with digital, but very few people know how to take proper advantage of it. It's extremely easy to be careless with a digital camera. That said, I'm excited for my Pentax 67, which arrives tomorrow. :downs:
hell yeah medium format, once I get my Pentax ME Super in the mail my next purchase will be a TLR. if you haven't yet got a scanner may I recommend the Epson V500 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/496399-REG/Epson_B11B189011_Perfection_V500_Flatbed_Photo.html I have it and I love it. I get around 10 usable megapixels from a 35mm negative and you can get around 20-30 easily from medium format. and I'm using shit $2 a roll film, if I used some portra or ektar that would probably double.
I love this. What is it?
It's a lamp with fibre optic tubes haha!
Just a few Just took this one, reflection off my car at night. Last two are taken from my car on a trip to town Ironically enough...on the exact same day, funny how the weather changed. The thing that keeps me motivated to take pictures is the fact that I have nothing of my past that I can look back on and have a clear memory of the precise thing I was doing at that time. It never dawned on me how important memories of your past are.

I like the second one, all good landscape photos have a foreground element, and you have the bushes there. Again, I like the 3rd one however a better angle (high / low) would probably be beneficial.

I just like the way the light came out on the first, and the grain kinda looked cool. I hope it snows a little tomorrow so I can try some shit.
I think I'm going to post another wall of images, stand back! Lack of VR fucking me up. Everything has a bit of blur and the shutter speed is quite fast.
Just buy a $10 IR remote and use that. Set it up so it has a timer still that way you can still get into position, but at least you won't have to keep rushing to get it right. [editline]11th January 2011[/editline] Also how did you get your arm coming from that area at the top of the shot. It looks like a window past it, did you hang outside of the window? Or just some clever photoshopping?
[editline]12th January 2011[/editline] Yes I know my belly is orangutangin'

Gotta do a project this weekend, does anyone have any tips on taking pictures of a person outside in fields?
Gotta do a project this weekend, does anyone have any tips on taking pictures of a person outside in fields?
What time of the day will you be shooting and whats the field like?
Also, another one from today!
What time of the day will you be shooting and whats the field like?
Hopefully we'll get there for sunrise, then the rest will be done during the day. Most of the fields are cut this time of the year but some photos will be done underneath trees and stuff. Theme is adventure :v:
