An old shot of mine I found on my HDD.
I need to find a suitable location to try my 60D's creative filter of that.

Highest building you can find bucko. The examples I've seen have been quite good.
Can't help but notice more noise in every photo of mine I look at, curses.
never knew we had a big photography thread :D
Hey guys, trying to get my hands on a copy of lightroom - which I think will drastically improve my post production and workflow.
I can't be bothered with photoshop - it's far too complex for me.
Can anyone suggest some basic workflows for me to get me started?
Aaaaah.
Just installed lightroom and it's 20% of the way through cataloguing all my photos... And there's 12,000 already.
I've got a lot of work ahead of me...
I got lightroom the other day and didn't really get it, I couldn't find anything I was looking for. I guess I'm too used to photoshop.

A while back when I first arsed about with exposure times and whatnot, I wanted to use a tripod and a torch for better results. Maybe not better but its a start, I hope to inspire some of you to try something similar.

Attempted to do an outline of my head in this one, hoping I'd get light trails around it. Very difficult to do but still a lot of fun to try. Turn the lights out, shutter priority and wave it like a boss.
How does one achieve that "tilt shift" style photography without post production?
Aaaaah.

It's just finished. 45,000 photographs that I need to go through and sort out at some point.
Fun, fun, fun.
It's horrible.
I've just accumulated all these shots from years and years of shooting without really doing anything with them...
Lightroom is awesome. I guarantee you'll love it. I used to use my student copy of PS for photo editing. I love PS because I'm so used to it (been using it for about 3 years now), but as soon as I picked up the trial to Lightroom I switched instantly. It's a far better program for photography. It's also really simple to get around in, so I bet you'll be a pro at using it within the next few days.

With a tilt shift lens.

I love the way fish eyes bulge out of the lens body.

I can't wait for the snow to melt and some foliage to come in, the white is getting old fast.
Edit: my 105 2.4 (and a bunch of rolls of 120) for my 67 has shipped so that should liven things up.

I can't stand taking pictures during winter. Isn't fun at all, as you said, white gets old. Fast.
I have yet to do much in self-portraiture, mainly because I rarely like the outcome.
I think this is the only one I've actually posted that I took of myself-

ignore the halo junk.
But Halo can be fun no matter what FP says.
Anyways: Would this be the place to post my rather generic shot of some classic cars that was in my town a couple months ago?

Just curious because it is AMAZING

don't see why not
though the automotive guys may enjoy your shots if you find a place to dump them- http://www.facepunch.com/forums/375-Avid-Automotive-Admirers

don't have $$$$? use a lens that can focus past infinity, then disconnect it from the body (only barely) and tilt it just a tad, until what you are shooting comes into focus
for most people this happens to be their 18-55 kit lens at 55mm. don't ask me why they can focus past infinity on the long end
e: LOL at people rating this dumb, this is meant to be cheap as all hell

just a picture I took while at the hospital.
Its a tad out of focus, I like the composition though.
My dad picked up a Pentax MX with a 50mm f/4 Macro from his work (they were throwing it out!). Found out that in its heyday it was the flagship Pentax SLR and that now they sell on eBay for up to $297! I went down to the markets immediately and bought me some brand new film :)
HELLO 35mm, IT'S BEEN A WHILE.

I have a Pentax ME Super coming in the mail, which is a fairly similar camera, but with aperture priority mode :smug: f/4 is a pretty dark lens, you should consider picking up a 50mm f/1.8 for $30 on evilbay and maybe a 40mm pancake and a 28mm f/2.8. cameras from the '70s have an abundance of insane quality prime lenses.

You mean 50mm f/1.7? It's soft as until you get down to F/4
You mean 50mm f/1.7? It's soft as until you get down to F/4
when you need low light performance or shallow DoF soft is a fair enough trade-off
