I recommend it. Nice site to use, good community from what I've found so far and if you have a mac, having an uploader built into iPhoto saves so much hassle if you don't do much editing after import.
The community of flickr really depends on where you spend your time. Sometimes I come across people who post horribly raped hdr photos like so: [img_thumb]http://www.digitalcameratracker.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/10/hdr-truck.jpg[/img_thumb] and theres loads of comments like "OMG looove the hdr, looks sweet as bro~~" or "sick effects, awesome photo ^_^" and that makes me sad.

On a side not, im looking for CC on this image.
The community of flickr really depends on where you spend your time.
Just find people that shoot very close to the way you, or how you want to shoot and you'll be in good company. It's not as idiot proof as say this thread, so you really have to put some effort in sifting through the shit. And when you do find good people, you can't expect them to act like we do here. There are different 'cultures' people come from on the internet and flickr is an amalgamation of that. Takes an open mind for sure, especially with things that clash with facepunch. For example you might find a great photographer but he's hipster as shit - you have to learn to look past that. I've got a few hundred contacts but I keep the best ones listed as 'friends' and stay in casual contact with them. Regarding groups; you've got the megagroups, then you have the dumb-as-shit-old-people-and-little-kids-posting-pictures-of-their-dogs groups, then you have the groups that you and your close flickr friends actually use to network with mutual flickr friends. I'm not that involved, but I casually observe. pageking content
Well to be fair, you will get good images and bad images, good people and bad people. I myself have had a good experience so far on Flickr, rarely get a comment and if I do its probably something silly. I don't browse and search through it so much so can't really speak about that. I use it to host stuff I'll likely lose and its easy just to point people towards it and let them browse. Bopie nails it like a damn hammer.
right, shooting photos of someone for his music, got a kit lens, thats all. Will be in town, what do
I haven't even posted anything on flickr yet, just browse around for pictures I like and then add that person as a contact. Quite a few of my contacts are people from this thread anyway.
who here is in the UK and shoots onto compact flash?
Don't you UK guys have like a craigslist type deal? I know for bikes a lot of people over there use 'gumtree' or whatever. Also, what you asked about shooting someone for his music, do you mean like band promo? or live music?
who here is in the UK and shoots onto compact flash?
Moi.
Here I go... *Photo feedback* if/when you read this can you tell me what your opinion on my opinion is? If I have helped you the i will keep giving you this feedback but if you think that I have just said "your photos are fucking shit" I will keep my opinion to myself.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the effort you put into that feedback. I've got it all printed out in my notebook and I'm going to try my best to address these points when I'm out photographing again :) As for the points about the ground ones, yes I know it can be a bit boring but I was trying my best to emulate those great photos which emphasise texture in an object. Also for the dirt one, I just fell in love with the textures and the colours of the dirt and I tried very hard to get the focus just right (which I think I did :3). Thanks again :D
http://www.facebook.com/pages/AwkwardHug/168095786567090?ref=ts thats him
He doesn't look like he'd be too demanding, you'll be fine if you can do some basic portrait stuff that doesn't look like it was shot on a p+s. One of the big basic things is to get the body pointed away from the camera, with the head tilted slightly in the same direction, but as not as much, and making eye contact with the camera. I hate the way this shot came out, but it shows what I'm talking about. It's only half the battle taking the picture, you need to learn how to direct your model as well and how to get a certain look out of them.
bopie do yo have steam or msn or something?
Hit me up on facebook if you need to. I added you remember?
oh yes, who the fuck are youi?

Many more to come.
Took some photos of my new Pentax MX in the garden. The first one was pretty overexposed but I think it kind of adds something to it, because that's how all the light today looks. As usual, constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

I've been craving that, I hate winter. Also the glass looks smooth and the dust + reflection give it character. That's all I really have to say. I changed my 365 to another shot from today haha

The first one is really nice. I also really like the second one, but I it would have been way better had you focused on the wheat directly in the center of the shot. Everything else is rather average.
Nice shots for using a camcorder, more proof you don't need to drop several grand to take interesting pictures.
Nice shots for using a camcorder, more proof you don't need to drop several grand to take interesting pictures.
No joke, must be a huge sensor for a camcorder.
No joke, must be a huge sensor for a camcorder.
5mp cmos and something like 16 interpolated but I just normally set it to 5mp. The long photo is a panorama btw just to get rid of any confusion. Its does 720p HD and cost $160
