Upon my discovery of light tracing..
The point was that you're trying to nullify what is a pretty reasonable aspect of photography. Photography is about capturing photons right? So why shouldn't you be able to have some controllable light?
I could go on and on with all kinds of things you can do with an 'external flash', like rim lighting, fill flash, put it through beauty dishes, umbrellas, etc. You won't realize how useful they are until you properly use one. Even then most people can see the advantages without having to have experience. I mean come on, it's a flash you can use to manipulate the light in your shots.
I value natural light quite a bit actually, but that doesn't mean you should throw out the concepts of controlled light.
Wow I'm not trying to nullify anything, I was saying I don't get why it's useful. Get that stick out of your ass.
Wow I'm not trying to nullify anything, I was saying I don't get why it's useful. Get that stick out of your ass.
Because quite frankly, they make you able to get away with faster shutter speeds and low ISOs

would have been nice without the light dick
also, hate to whore but like this.
It's taking the piss out my friends band which is a bit mean, but he's cool with it:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/I-Should-Have-Brought-A-Flash-Gun/183150331708767
I dunno if I regret getting a 430ex flash or not... I mean it's good but, the 580 would've been so much more useful, I could've bought it but I would've used up all of my money.
would have been nice without the light dick
The dong completes this piece.
No, and this post didn't explain why it's remotely useful.
I know. I wasn't trying to explain. I could spout endless bullshit about the uses of an external flash, but I know that it won't make a difference. It takes experiencing it to figure out why you like it (or alternatively, don't). It's like trying to explain to someone how good the 50mm 1.8 truly is. While I could talk endlessly about it's depth of field, speed, sharpness at 5.6, low-light performance, etc. it takes actually handling one to enjoy it.

Taken with canon 1000d and a cheap tamron 70-300 lens
Love the shot bengley, quite original IMO. Only if the closest lamp was in proper focus :(

I think this is a good shot but what I'd do is try to bring out the colours more. They look kind of flat. Other than the colours. I think it's lovely.

You take astounding pictures, my friend.

Well to be fair it is just white and gray in the scene. Not much e could really do.
174/365 - Like I mentioned a few pages back, self portraits are a new challenge.

175/365 - I want to try some more stuff with the flour.

hey bopie, I took your advice onboard and started using lightroom. It make life that bit easier. Anyway, all the lovely low res images with juicy compression cam be viewed here:

go ahead and comment and stuff, or embed them here and say stuff. Quite frankly it ain't my finest house but you all have to start somewhere?

Just two quick shots I took while it snowed here the other day. I'm thinking about cropping the first one to put the lamp onto the right third vertical but I'm not sure. Also I probably should burn the top of the second one...

Those photos are amazing! Please don't crop the first one though, it's refreshing to see an image which isn't dominated by one side :) If you are going to crop it though, try to place other points of interest on the 3rds points, a good idea of space is to have the viewer look at one central point, then two other smaller points :)

Heh I'm glad you like them! Although your advice is sound, I'm not sure what other PoI I could choose. It's just the lamp and a bunch of random flakes. Either way, it's great to get advice on my shots so thank you :)
I really want to head to London Fashion week in Feb from the 19th to the 23rd for photography/banter/fine dining.
Hotels are bitch-expensive that week though. :/

That's quite true but I just thought the whites could've been more vibrant. That's all. :)

Ah got it. Yeah perhaps a bit more contrast/exposure would make it stronger.

Definitely! :buddy:
Was doing a bit of exploring throughout some of the farther outskirts of the suburbs today.

goes to show that you don't need an expensive camera to take insane photos.
I looked at the EXIF data and it said that the shutterspeed was 1/25, was that with a tripod or a steady hand?
I'm dumb. All were shot without a tripod. "Memoir" was taken with the flash on.
Got back my first roll of film used with my Pentax MX. Turned out pretty good considering half of them were taken with a non-functioning light meter. Only post processing was on the one of the road due to the massive desaturating grey bar :[

On another note, could any of you young ones inform me one how to do the new fangled Flickr embed thingo with a hotlink to the user and the photo underneath? I'd appreciate it :D
had the flash on in the tunnel?
tunnels are mad for photos cause you get to chose the light if you go upstream far enough
