defo holds the camera still
Marine and Natural History photography and press and editorial photography. I'd be happy with either, but I doubt they will accept me though.
What makes you say that? do you have the grades or are you just worried you don't meet a high standard? CODENAMECUEBALL what did you use to calibrate? and would you recommend it?
There were nicer shots of my girlfriend, but it was the only good one where the gumboots were in a nice spot in the frame.
Beautiful photo :) My only criticisms is that the subject could have been a bit more pronounced.
Yeah, I agree. Like I said, there were other photographs which her pose was nicer, but I think that the red boots to the side of the image were more important to the shot. Also, I had a few of my vaccines in preparation for my trip to Peru later this year. My arm is fucking sore. I can't fucking wait though. Good photo op's to be found there!
so i just went to dc and took like 600 pictures with my friend. about 400 of them are vertical. so, i figured if i uploaded them with EOS utility, it would automatically flip them. well it didnt, and now i have 400 un-flipped pictures. :emo: what do i do besides manually flip them since i really dont have the patience right now. (because my friend is being an annoying nag about the pictures) [editline]2423[/editline] THANKS GUYS. i just ended up flipping them so disregard this post. took an hour though.
Do any of you guys own a remote? Like the wireless shutter release things. If so, do you have any recommendations or suggestions? I'm looking to buying one.
Do any of you guys own a remote? Like the wireless shutter release things. If so, do you have any recommendations or suggestions? I'm looking to buying one.
I spent two bucks on a little Opteka brand wireless remote and it works just fine. v:v:v
I spent two bucks on a little Opteka brand wireless remote and it works just fine. v:v:v
I'm guessing it only has a shutter release button. But thanks! :buddy:
Spent $10 on the superior Nikon one. I know it's superior because it says Nikon and costs more. The cheapest one I can find is 20 dollars. Oh well. It'll suffice. Probably gonna pick it up sometime this week. Going to attempt self portraits or something similar. Too bad I'm not photogenic. :smith: But oh well! Going to try anyways!
Do any of you guys own a remote? Like the wireless shutter release things. If so, do you have any recommendations or suggestions? I'm looking to buying one.
don't spend more than $5 they're easily lost and easily replaced
don't spend more than $5 they're easily lost and easily replaced
I can't spend less than 5 dollars. :saddowns: Lowest price I found was 20 dollars.

It was definitely 10 bucks when I bought it, but the price increased to 17. http://www.amazon.com/Opteka-RC-2-Wireless-Control-Replacement/dp/B002NGVY8G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1295581372&sr=8-2 ^That's the same brand dai referenced albeit it is $10 instead of $2. Still it works just as well and is cheaper. I'd go for that, although there is a shipping price (I think), so maybe bundle it with something else so you don't end up paying $5 to ship a 10 gram piece of plastic.

Do you have to be in front of the camera for the IR remotes to work?
depends on the camera. I know a few nicer ones have a little IR sensor on the back and the front, but others have it just on the front, usually on the handle underneath the shutter button
think of the IR remote as a little flashlight (which it is), it needs to 'shine' on the sensor, if you really need to, you can ghetto rig it with some foil or like a small mirror to reflect it. There have been a few times I got my IR to trigger the camera bouncing it off a wall.

Then again, the cheapest on amazon is like $35CAD. Maybe I'll just try a really small mirror or piece of foil. Most of the time I'm going to be using it outside so I can't really bounce it off a wall.
I'd love suggestions for a good, sturdy tripod. As for a budget I am not entirely sure I mean in my opinion > £100 seems too much (or am I being optimistic?) I have a shitty plastic one borrowed from a relative of my boyfriend's and they just use it for recording videos at family stuff so as you can imagine it isn't really suited to holding my D3000 as it tends to shake a bit and not handle the camera's weight well. Also the way it attaches makes marks in the paint on the bottom of my camera. :saddowns: I want a really quick to use tripod. So I can just quickly take the camera on and off with little fuss. The current one I have you have to screw a little block to the bottom of the camera first and I really dislike it. For one it hardly attaches tight enough hence the marks in my camera now (as it can sometimes spin whilst attached to the tripod from the weight if I alter the angle of the stand.) Thanks to anyone who can help. :h:
you don't need to spend too much, my most used tripod is a $40 one I got from best buy. The center detatches and it becomes a monopod as well, really useful.
Testing a new tripod. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/aRIuy.jpg[/img_thumb]
It's even sexier when I know where it is :monocle:
what was that? I can't hear you from over here [img_thumb]http://www.digitalpixels.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/sigma-200-500.jpg[/img_thumb]
Dont make fun of me :( If heard some story's of people have a plastic body, then having a lens mounted thats 4 times the weight of the body. The body got cracked/broken etc. What I'm trying to say is : ---|| .....| ..../|\ .../.|.\ Now 700g hangs on a 250g plastic body But when its like ---|| ..| ./|\ /.|.\ There would be 250 grams hanging on something thats 700g, i think that would be better. Sorry for all these questions, I just dont want my stuff broken. [sp]Maybe I'm just to carefull...[/sp]
can never be too careful, I'd say go for it if you're not sure
What makes you say that? do you have the grades or are you just worried you don't meet a high standard? CODENAMECUEBALL what did you use to calibrate? and would you recommend it?
Well i'm doing an art course in college, so I won't need to worry too much about grades. (But my GCSE's are pathetic) and yeah I don't feel I meet a high standard, if they based it on photos alone I think i'd have a good chance, but I doubt i'd even get an interview.
Testing a new tripod. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/aRIuy.jpg[/img_thumb]
I think you nailed this image, the way the moon is set, the subtle haze of orange at the distance. Bags of dead bodies Beautiful

Bah I wish my OCD wasn't so bad when it comes to dirt being in the viewfinder, anything short of perfection when it comes to the cleanliness of my camera bugs me even though its very minuscule and doesn't even effect the quality of my images nor video taken. I'll probably have it professionally replaced because every effort I have made to clean it myself has failed and I am only going to make it worse I think. Also when I am viewing things through the live viewfinder display it appears there are two specs but when I view the video on my computer there is nothing there and there is nothing on the sensor nor lens. I really need to get over it.

In the sense you have to back up what you said in your statement with your portfolio.
