I'd love suggestions for a good, sturdy tripod. As for a budget I am not entirely sure I mean in my opinion > £100 seems too much (or am I being optimistic?)
I have a shitty plastic one borrowed from a relative of my boyfriend's and they just use it for recording videos at family stuff so as you can imagine it isn't really suited to holding my D3000 as it tends to shake a bit and not handle the camera's weight well. Also the way it attaches makes marks in the paint on the bottom of my camera. :saddowns:
I want a really quick to use tripod. So I can just quickly take the camera on and off with little fuss. The current one I have you have to screw a little block to the bottom of the camera first and I really dislike it. For one it hardly attaches tight enough hence the marks in my camera now (as it can sometimes spin whilst attached to the tripod from the weight if I alter the angle of the stand.)
Thanks to anyone who can help. :h:
Maplin have one for £20 that's not bad. http://www.maplin.co.uk/compact-lightweight-tripod-45697
I am a little biased as I work there so I get a discount, but it's still a decent tripod. The quick release is a little fiddly(You have to get the lever at the right angle) but once you get used to it it's fine. Make sure you tighten the screw in the quick release thing so the camera doesn't slip(It's got a rubbery surface so it won't scratch the camera anyway). Extends to 1.6m which isn't quite tall enough for me to use the viewfinder comfortably without crouching down. (Being tall sucks)

Mindfuck. This looks like it was taken from a plane, of something like the ice caps.
That's nuts.
Flickr brings out the best of the iPhone 2G/3G camera. I took loads on mine and flickr made them look.. good.

The colours on this is great, and capturing the motion makes it one hell of a candid, props!

'Tis like something out of Twilight.
Thanks for replying Daijitsu and Xera. :h:
I may go to the nearby Maplin and take a look. I agree with being tall sucks Xera I'm 6ft I can rarely find decent jeans for cheap that accommodate to a 37" or so leg length, most stores seem to think females quit growing at 5'10" all though in recent years it is improving slightly.
The fog here has been thick for 3 days, if it's still around tomorrow I am tempted to go out with the camera for the first time in a while as fog is awesome.
Wow. Was this just moon/street light? It was pitch black when you went out.
Exposure time is like 15 seconds at f/4, ISO 2000.
I haven't been out in ages... fucking winter.

That explains it!
Wohoo might be ditching my 1 month old E-420 for a D40X :D

Should have gone D40 in the first place :v:
Should have gone D40 in the first place :v:
I completely agree - sadly budget disallowed that.. Yeah but some unbeknown person listed D40X with accessories, lens etc. on Gumtree for £160 (should sell for like £300) and my brother snapped it up. Were going to do a swap because he will only use it occasionally and wont use it to it's best so he may as well use my one.
nice move, you will appreciate the viewfinder
Yeah, the Olympus gives me eye strain.
