also, got my D7000, already having a blast. Set my 'preview' function button to send me to my battery info screen, I'm so damn happy having a percentage and estimated pictures remaining, considering all I had before was this-

and I usually hit panic mode when only the first bar disappeared because that meant I had like 10 minutes before it burst into flames in my mind
I just found out my dad has a Canon Rebel S. Unfortunately I'm not sure if they sell batteries for it anymore.

1Ds mark iii for me, its getting old but when the fourth comes out it will be beautiful.

If you really want to be able to buy batteries rather than charge them, you can get AA adapters for battery packs.

why in gods name would I want to do that? I am getting a grip though. Anybody got a ripoff one for the 1000D/450D/500D? What's it like?
Because I thought you were referring to batteries the 1D can take.
Oh god AA batteries in a SLR is a bad idea. The thing is, as AA batteries drain, their performance also suffers. In the end your SLR will be sluggish to take shots and you'll eat those up like candy. I would not recommend it unless it's an emergency situation.
I was under the impression that 2cr5 batteries were not rechargeable.

Gotta Love the 50mm 1.8. It's such a nice lens. I'm sure the 1.4 if a lot better though
