I only have a few from when I went to my uncles funeral last year. All images are 24" x 36", but they got slimmed down by deviant art.
If it's related to the discussion at hand, maybe, but, whatever. nobody wants to see fifty people they don't know holding three beers each and having trouble looking at the camera with both eyes. http://www.edhardytime.com/
Im pretty new to photography any tips?
from a recent adventure... glow worms are awesome
Some slightly older ones, not sure if I posted some them or not. Though the Snow may be a repeat, it seems to be a favorite. Seeing as how it's a new thread I might as well put something on page one :v: And alternatively, the test of CS5's Content Aware:
I've been on a cross-Europe roadtrip for the past few weeks. Monaco was a few days ago. Chilling in London right now (drove up through Switzerland and France). Any tips on stuff to do?
I love you walk around the city of London, walk along the thames from southwark to tower bridge, you'll see the mayor's office and stuff. Also go on the Jubilee line from waterloo to canary wharf, the architecture is absolutely stunning, especially canary wharf tube station. Look around canary wharf as well. (obviously you don't have time for all of these things they're just suggestions)
[release]http://gizmodo.com/5561208/canons-in+camera-hdr-patent-will-let-you-take-pictures-like-this Canon's looking to change the way you take HDR pictures. Previously, in order to capture images like these, you'd have to combine photos in post. With a new patent, the process will be done in-camera, at the pixel level. High Dynamic Range pictures are taken by capturing the same subject at varying exposure levels and then combining those images in photo editing software. The idea is to create something that's more detailed and potentially more representative of what your eye can see. You can see what HDR photos look like in one of our Shooting Challenges. Canon's new patent wants to turn that sort of complicated process all in-camera. The way it works:
According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, preliminary image capturing is performed using the image capturing unit, and the exposure time is assigned to each pixel based on the result of the preliminary image capturing. Image capturing can thus be performed with a wide dynamic range without a loss of highlight detail and a loss of shadow detail.
Other cameras, like the Sony A550 and A500, are capable of doing in-camera HDR but they're more of a quick chop method. Mapping out the exposure level by the pixel is far more detailed and if done correctly, has huge implications. HDR has its fair share of fans and haters but Canon's patent would give Canon cameras the ability to capture a much wider dynamic range in a single image and a stand out feature in the ever evolving camera wars. [PhotographyBay] Send an email to Casey Chan, the author of this post, at cchan@gizmodo.com. [/release] Strangely enough, I was just thinking earlier this morning about how cool it would be to be able to take more HDR-esque pictures with a camera, and then started thinking about how it would work. This kind of summed it up. However, I have mixed feelings now that I've seen a proof-of-concept. Auto-HDR is convenient, but I feel HDR pictures should require tweaking by the photographer in post-production anyways to achieve the most aesthetic result, or at least a result to befit the artist's style. Plus, it puts HDR in the hands of a lot of people who really don't understand HDR. I can't wait for the metric shit-ton of myspace pictures taken with the cheaper commercially available cameras with this technology. [editline]1:11[/editline] ...and isn't everything done "at the pixel level" with digital processing? :raise:
Get some good shots up there  and i get what you mean, i called the image 'home', mostly because it was sights i see everyday, they are all pretty much shots i've taken a hundred times and i was experimenting with post processing on them. But i'll take your advice too
Ah, that makes sense. Looking back on it I suppose I didn't see it well. Still Post Processing was really nice, and did like the crops you got on each image.
I love you walk around the city of London, walk along the thames from southwark to tower bridge, you'll see the mayor's office and stuff. (obviously you don't have time for all of these things they're just suggestions)
Haha, it's awesome because I'm actually a few streets away from the Canary Wharf station. The Jubilee Line is so nice, Waterloo-Canary Wharf is the best section of The Underground. I'd recommend anyone staying in London at least ride the this portion once (it's amazing). Took a ton of pictures today, I'll be uploading some more later. I think...
whilst having a happy medium it will probably reach, it will only reach its own happy mediums. unless they incorporate some amazing on-board computer, things like awkward skylines, shadows vs dark materials, odd textures, there might be misinterpretations of what needs to be balanced out. But, we'll have to wait and see how it does. Taking out the human factor in HDR might be an issue, but it might be just right. I'm sure everyone who really enjoys HDR would rather do it themselves even if their camera had this capability, though... but it could just be me.
How do you get such well-defined edges in your pictures?
New HDR stuff
Cool. They'll probably have settings like these: "Fixes and makes photo look better" "Look better with slight interesting effect" "Overprocessed shit" "Worse than filter rape" I can see the menus now. I can also see setting number 4 being the most common (For instance the picture that came with the article was clocked in at number 3) [editline]11:16PM[/editline]
How do you get such well-defined edges in your pictures?
unsharp mask filter in potatoshop. does wonders.
unsharp mask filter in potatoshop. does wonders.
That did the trick, wow... how did I not know about this until now?!
Just did this one. [editline]03:28AM[/editline] any tips?
That did the trick, wow... how did I not know about this until now?!
Woo! Now you know. Just don't go overboard! :) A lot of photographers/texture artists who like really sharp images use that on their work. It's a great asset if you know how to use it. [editline]11:31PM[/editline]
Just did this one. [editline]03:28AM[/editline] any tips?
The focus is in the wrong place. You might want it on the plugs. Also, I'd recommend keeping more of the actual console in focus. I'd also recommend a different angle because that one is really awkward. It's a bottom up shot that's at a weird angle. Doesn't really strike me as anything. Honestly a dead straight shot with a wide angle would look very much more powerful than how it is.

Because I notice that almost all pictures I see on Flickr are super sharp.

anyone else in here using adobe lightroom?

So I just found out a friend died yesterday. More specifically: -whom I'd only just begun to know, yet felt so close to. I found out she had a crush on me when we were younger, even through high school. We hung out only two or three times in the past while, took a bunch of random silly pictures, and the last time I saw her she fell asleep on the couch and I didn't have the chance to say bye. I'm going on a long trip. Don't know where, but I'm topping off my gas tank first... well, taking a nap first. I can't even see straight right now. love ya Lindsey.
This man deserves hearts.
If I'm not back by Wednesday, I'm probably dead. Not because I'm suicidal or anything, my car just sucks. [editline]1:11[/editline] ...I know it's bad when I make jokes like that. See you all when I see ya.
Well that sucks daijitsu D:
