I tried to do a panorama but can't find nice software. I tried clevr stitcher but it always leaves ghosting in places no matter what images I use. :smith:

Just gonna throw this out there as a sort of hypothetical question. I'm going to be getting a Canon Rebel XTi soon, and as far as I'm aware it has a "Live View" mode. I was wondering if there would be any way to passively record this video output without affecting the read/right function to the SD card? Perhaps an external system?
XTi has no live view. XSi does though.
Also, the only way i've heard of it working is when it's tethered to a computer. A netbook wouldn't be too bad, but you're better off just saving up for a 500d/t1i.
The live view hacks generally produce shitty and choppy results.
Oh, you're correct, it is the XSi. Long day at work I tell you what.
Well I don't intend to buy one right now, as this is a hand me down from my father. He's picking up two new cameras and doesn't have a use for the XSi any more besides a backup (which he can procure from me at any time he deems necessary :v:)
I was really just hoping for a way to record just basic video. 320x240 cell phone esque quality is fine by me. I do a lot of photography of wild animals, and as fun as it is to capture photos, many times I'd like to have some video record of what was happening.
I guess I'll have to look into the tethering, I did see an article on Lifehacker or Gizmodo a few days ago about it. That may work.

That's the link from Lifehacker just in case anyone else was interested :)
Just got back from Osheaga in Montreal, watched Arcade Fire live. Fucking amazing show. Got some great pics.
Dumb coming up.

I have never really taken photos, but yesterday I went out with my dad's camera and walked around the commons in my city taking a few pictures. I would really like it if you gave me some pointers on how to improve on them, thanks!

This was just a few of them, if you would like to check out the rest take a look at my deviant art account http://jake-mason.deviantart.com/ thanks again!
I like them all, but the water pic is kind of "meh", seems out of focus.
Yes it is but it was just a test but thanks for the feedback :)
I like the horse but it is a shame that the image is so noisy.

Straight from camera only cropped and resized, actually one of my first shots with a tele lens. Freehand 300mm bitches no VR
Edit:
I was thinking it could make a good desktop background. Also one question, do you guys see jpg artifacts in it or is it just me?
I fixed my old pic, Took away the Borders and some other stuff.

It does look like something is off I agree Swebonny. Did you save it at max quality after you resized it? Can we see the original?
Yeah here is the original straight from the memory card it's quite big >4mb.
[img_thumb]http://i31.tinypic.com/2wdd16e.jpg[/img_thumb]
(I'm aware it's not the sharpest shot :v:)
I hope you don't mind that I tried to make a wallpaper size image of it, was mostly trying to see what caused it to have a few artefacts in what you posted. I came up with this as best as I could get with my mediocre skills: http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/2426/birdied.jpg
I think maybe it was how you went about re-sizing it to make the bird look bigger. I think that's probably as clear as it will get as you were (I am guessing) a fair distance away? The beak still seems, to me, slightly aliased on my version too but I haven't got my glasses on so I can't see clearly. Should probably go get them.
That's really nice! Definitely better than my crop, I really think there are some artifacts in mine if you look closely.
The shot was taken maybe a 10-15 meter to the bird, not sure but it felt like the bird was 30 meters away. I think the shot could have been more clear if I used a tripod and remote, not sure on this either as it could just be the quality of lens.
Yeah possibly shake VR would have come in handy for this. Though maybe it is just distortion if you were fully zoomed in?
I like the horse but it is a shame that the image is so noisy.
Do you know how to fix this? I have no idea this is the first time I have attempted photography.
You can do some noise reduction in photoshop or adobe lightroom. To stop that much noise to begin with you need to keep an eye on your settings, the noise is usually a by product of your ISO being too high or the lighting being dim but it looks like you had enough light in that. I am fairly new to photography, so can't help you as much as I'd want to as I am still inexperienced.

I'll quickly play with it in lightroom and see if I can do anything. :buddy:

That's what I thought as I read that the Sigma 70-300 APO DG doesn't perform that well at 250->300. But after taking this shot I'm pretty convinced that it's just a matter of vibration.

Edit: Sigh, crazy jpeg artifacts again, but you see the difference.
Looks like you saved it in paint that probably didn't help it compresses jpegs to shit. :v:
BeardedSponge, in my opinion slightly altering the exposure (I think your white balance is incorrect as it is so yellow) and then resizing it slightly smaller and using reduce noise in PS makes an improvement:

Maybe someone with actual experience can help you more though. :buddy:
Well I decreased some saturation, somehow that horse seems to drown in the colours.

If that was my pic, I'd make it something along these lines. Maybe a bit too dull but yeah.

I saved it in elements and I did make it yellowish for a reason hehe

What kind of camera did you shoot it with?
